We stayed at Westwood house over the August bank holiday weekend after luckily securing a late booking.

Westwood is a beautiful (huge!) converted Victorian house, and its original character remains following a warm and very charming upgrade. Helen, the owner, has decorated the house to a high standard and the thoughtful personal touches she has added to each room give a sense of luxury, but with the same homely feel of a bed and breakfast.

We enjoyed a lovely cooked breakfast each morning, which was relaxed and we were able to enjoy at our own pace. In addition Helen was a great host providing us with information on where to visit in Ilfracombe and recommending places to eat and drink.

The highlight of our trip was our walk along the coastal path from Ilfracombe to Morthoe. Helen kindly allowed us to borrow her two beautiful Labradors, Oz and Charlie, for the afternoon. Not sure who was more tired and delighted to be home afterwards but two better companions you would not find!

From greeting us on arrival with a lovely cup of tea and biscuits, to our departure, Helen couldn’t have done more to make us feel welcome and at home...we had a really great stay here and recommend to anyone who is looking for something a bit different in Ilfracombe.

Luxury b&b accommodation in a great location. Helen was an amazing host which made our stay even more enjoyable, the decor of the whole b&b is fabulous and the amazing breakfast well worth getting up for! Would definitely stay there again and cannot recommend highly enough.

I cannot fault this b&b it is outstanding. My boyfriend and I stayed at The Westwood for one night in September before starting our coast to coast cycle ride. We couldn't have asked for a better starting point to our journey. The location was perfect, right on the cycle route and just a 5 min walk to the seafront and to the restaurants. The hotel itself is impeccable. Helen very kindly upgraded us to room 1 and what a room it is, beautifully decorated, with a great view and the most comfortable bed in the world. Helen is a fantastic host, she brought us tea and Jaffa cakes on our arrival, booked us a table at a local restaurant and made sure we felt right at home. The breakfast was better than I have had in some London restaurants with perfectly cooked poached eggs and plenty of cereal and fruit and yogurt. The Westwood and Helen deserve all the praise they are getting and if you ask me should be the #1 b&b in illfracombe.

Myself, husband and 2 year old son have just returned from a fabulous two night stay in the luxurious Westwood B&B. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay and felt very welcomed by Helen who went out of her way to make sure that we were happy and well looked after.

There are already many reviews here that praise this lovely accommodation and we whole heartedly agree with each and every one of them! Not only are the rooms beautifully decorated (We stayed in Room 1) with lovely furnishings and spacious bathroom, but the house also boasts a large lounge with Sky TV that guest are welcome to use too. Beautiful breakfasts with a wide range of choices

My Nana is a local, born and bred in Ilfracombe, so I have tried and tested many local hotels around Torrs Park during my visits back to spend time with her - and this one is the best!!!

We will definitely be returning... if Helen will have us!!!!!

We stayed here for 3 nights in August 2011 with our 2 year old son. Helen is a lovely host and made us feel very welcome. The hotel is a refurbished Victorian property, lots of character but with a modern boutique style. Our bedroom was large, clean and well laid out - there was loads of room for the 3 of us (including our travel cot) and the bathroom had both a large bath and a separate shower. Bed was king sized and very comfortable - we all slept like logs as the house is set back from the road, which is quiet anyway.
Breakfast's here are fantastic. Yoghurt's, cereals, tea, coffee are all top quality and the cooked options are also excellent - perfect poached eggs, scrambled eggs and smoked salmon, full English.
Having visited Ilfracombe on childhood holidays it's good to return and see properties like Westwood being a part of the modernisation of the holiday industry in the town. It's easily walkable into town where there are plenty of restaurants - everybody knows about Damien Hirst's (which is good) but there are plenty of others of all types.
The Tunnels Beaches are very close to the hotel (modernised, with new cafe/restaurant and childrens play centre) and the North Devon coastal path is also close to the hotel.
In summary - lovely hotel, excellent host, loads to do. We hope to return and for longer next time.

Room Tip: All rooms seem very good.
