Description: The Pier is a Brewery Tap and Grill serving great real ale from The Wizard Brewing Company and a wide selection of locally sourced gourmet burgers, steaks and seafood, as well as daily specials. Our family friendly pub is situated right on the harbour in Ilfracombe, and boasts a large seafront beer garden with spectacular views of the ocean and North Devon coastline. We're ideal for a romantic dinner for two but luckily can also cater for big groups, functions and this year have even done a wedding reception

As a family of four we were on the lookout for a family friendly bite to eat for dinner. We parked literally next door and went to visit another eatery, however, they were closed so headed back to the car park and I happened to see they had rump steak on the special menu so popped in to see if they did child portions.

They do children's portions so we stayed. What a lovely atmospheric place to stay of an evening. Fairy lights and ambient lighting. Purely beautiful and a place I'd love to have a date with the wife!

Friendly staff and a stunning pale ale (brewed by themselves!)

Now onto the food... Wow!

I had a rump steak medium cooked and was so melty and delicious.

My wife had the chilli loaded nachos starter which she said was amazing and just what she wanted.

The kids had macaroni cheese which was clearly home cooked and lovely (the bowls come out piping hot, so if you have young wandering fingers, maybe ask for the dish to be served in a cold bowl?)

The total bill came to under £40, I was amazed and we thoroughly enjoyed our evening out.

P.s. they have kids toys and board games to play too.

Well done to this restaurant and bar, you've done yourselves proud!

When asking for gluten free options for Sunday dinner today, we were told that they could do gluten free gravy and that we couldn't have the cauliflower cheese as it was not gluten free. However when food came despite being reassured that it was gluten free, was actually not as it had stuffing on the plate.

When asked the waitress replied "well I guess it is gluten free". Obviously she does not realise the serious implications of eating something that contains gluten with vomiting and having diarrhoea. Needless to say it was not and the whole meal had to be replaced. When the 'gluten free gravy' came out I left it as very hesitant with the waitress' lack of knowledge and understanding of food intolerances.

This was the first and last visit here for me I am afraid. Places that do not realise the seriousness of food allergies and intolerances do not deserve my business. You have been warned.

Excellent service, food & drink, not fully wheelchair accessible but there's a couple of good tables in the bar, ideal for a snap decision meal & pint!

Once you got used to the noise level you could hear the music/voices. It would be better to sit further back but then the people get in the way!

We arrived around eight o'clock. Tried a pint of the Wizard beer which was excellent. We asked to see the menu but the friendly barman Julian wasn't sure if the kitchen was open. He enquired but returned very apologeticly saying the burners had been turned off. He couldn't have been more helpful suggesting a fish and chip shop on the quayside and offering to provide crockery, cutlery and condiments. We took him up on his offer and not only that his boss gave us a free drink. Can't fault the customer service and we wouldn't hesitate to return. Julian says Sunday lunches are great.
