Only here for one night but it was a pleasant and comfortable one, in a charmingly old-fashioned hotel facing the sea. My room was somewhat unusual in that it comprised two rooms, one set up as an office/study, with desk and computer and so on. I didn't really use it. The bedroom was comfortable and quiet and had a huge bathroom. Best of all was the restaurant in the hotel. Did not have very high expectations and so was very pleasantly surprised by the excellent steak that I had for dinner. Breakfast was equally well prepared. All in all, a very good stay and I'd happily go back.

We stayed for four nights at the end of October in a lovely large room overlooking the sea and the promenade - we even had complimentary newspapers! It was clean, warm and the public rooms had lovely wood panelling. The staff were all very friendly and helpful and the breakfasts were very good. From the Regency the town centre is about a 20 minute walk away (most of which you can do along the prom). Overall a very nice stay - even though we were there while 'storm Brian' was in action. I would recommend this hotel and would like to stay again. We did hear that they were going to have an update or some renovations soon and I just hope they keep its charm and character which many hotels just don't have these days.

Room Tip: If possible have a room on the front. Looking out at the sea and the prom is lovely - even if the weather isn't.

I have been coming here about once a year for more than decade. They kn ow what I like, and they provide it. It is extremely neat and clean, with spacious rooms and very large bathrooms. Nice location at the enc of the Promenade.

Room Tip: Rooms in the back are quieter, but rooms in the front have spectacular views. Ask for a supplementary bedside lamp for reading in bed.

We were booked into the sister hotel & unexpectedly received a phone call offering us an upgrade to the Regency which, we accepted. We are so pleased that we did. The hotel has so much old world charm & character (especially the Victorian lift), every member of staff was so friendly and polite, the breakfast was beautifully presented and tasted delicious. The hotel is spotlessly clean with fresh towels daily. The linen was beautiful.
The hotel offers great value for money in a very picturesque part of the promenade with quite stunning views of the bay

Old-fashioned (in the nicest possible way) hotel, at the eastern end of what remains of the grand Victorian Douglas promenade, which combines modern services with traditional charms. Our room overlooked the promenade and was large, light, comfortable and well-appointed, with lots of power points and even a DVD player for the TV. Anyone staying on business would appreciate the large work surface and a plug board for use with USB cables. The staff were very helpful and professional, and the service was top-notch. The public rooms are charming, retaining their period features (including the quirkiest lift we have ever seen) and, consequently, a distinctive style that contrasts with the bland corporatism in many modern hotels. An absolute delight and well worth the money.

Room Tip: Ask for a sea view
