Went there 24 October for four a day Holiday, Hotel was good with a modern reception area 2 reasonably priced bars, rooms clean, nice linen, very tasty food with a good selection to suit both vegetarian and others, 3 nights entertainment that was enjoyable, All very helpfull staff with luggage delivered up to your room, lift for the not so agile, large safe car park, small swimming pool and other leisure facilities, enjoyed our stay and will try Hotel again soon, Surrounding area is hilly but pick your walk to the shops and its not to bad at all.

Room Tip: Some of our friends did not have the sea view that we had this was excellent, suggest you ask for a...

We visited this hotel on a Skills holiday coach trip. We stayed for 6 nights and have nothing but praise for this holel . The rooms had everything you would expect to find and everywhere seemed very clean. The menu was varied and the food arrived hot and tasty and plenty of it..The staff were very pleasant and were helpful if required. The hotel was within walking distance of all that Shanklin had to offer. There was a bus stop around the corner to travel to other parts of the island.
the nightly entertainment could be heard from our room but it came to end by 11pm.there was an indoor swimming pool but we did not use this facility.

This was our 2nd stay at this hotel, the 1st being 2 years ago. We had a very enjoyable 7 day stay (coach party) during June this year. The hotel is quiet and clean. The staff are very pleasant and willing to help. The only downside to our room was that the bathroom did not have enought places to put clothes when showering, but this seems to be a problem in many hotels throughout the UK. The food was excellent, at least 4 choices for the main meal each evening, well cooked and presented (and hot); the meat is off a joint and not the usual rolled plastic type one gets at many hotels. The restaurant staff work very hard and you do not have to wait long for your meal. Breakfasts are also very good. There is entertainment most evenings should you wish, but on the otherhand you can retire to your room to read. There is plenty of parking for cars, but sometimes coaches have problems getting out of the car park as people have thoughtlessly left their cars parked across the road right in front of the entrance.
A very enjoyable holiday.

Room Tip: Not near a life if at all possible because of slamming of doors, also not near a fire exit door for...

This was once an actractive Art Deco building -ruined probably in the 70's and has had only piecemeal updates since, the service was good but this did not make up for the tired melamime room, feeble shower and decor that put me in mind of Soviet era communist hotels in Eastern Europe. The wall sculpture made from 6 inch nails was horrifically ugly. Add to this a client base of northern and welsh coach trippers on mobility scooters...so if you tried hard your stay might merely be depressing. On the other hand the largely Polish staff were quite sweet and hard working- maybe the place reminded them of a childhood holiday break in Gdansk?

Room Tip: If the room sucks -demand a better one.

Thank you for your comments regarding your stay at the Shanklin Hotel.

The "horrifically ugly nails" on our foyer wall is actually a piece of nail art produced by a Canadian artist called David Partridge famed for his nail art work. We have many guests ask if we sell postcards of this piece so it is obviously a matter of personal taste.
On a positive note I am glad to hear you enjoyed the service at the Shanklin Hotel.
