“Comfortable, spacious flat, ideally placed for great seaside holiday.”
Reviewed 21 September 2015 for a stay in September 2015

The Granary is a very comfortable flat situated directly on the harbour. The owners have provided all the ameneties and extras to make your stay here as welcoming as possible. The flat is very spacious and more like a home from home than a holiday let.
The harbour is busy day and night which is ideal and always offers something of interest. There's plenty to see and do in the area with North Berwick a short distance away and links to Edinburgh. All in all a lovely base for a Scottish holiday.

“Unexpectedly Excellent”

My wife booked this one so I arrived without prior expectations except the knowledge that it was in Dunbar (we have stayed in the town once before a few years ago). To be honest I was astounded by the flat in pretty much every possible way.

First, the location: Dunbar is a very nice town for a holiday and surprisingly empty for August. The kids loved the town leisure centre pool (overlooking the bay/harbour), the local adventure park (by car), and we travelled into Edinburgh for the zoo (by car) and the Fringe (by train). So - as a centre for a holiday, very nice. The apt is in a building right over the harbour (see pic) and the water comes directly up under the window (three floors down but with restricted opening for safety). On the other side of the apt, is a courtyard and then a 2 min walk to a beach which seemed to be made entirely of shells (!).

To the apt itself: Amazingly well stocked - everything you could think of - including a telescope and binoculars (big hit with the kids); all the kitchen kit you could wish for; comfortable chairs; interestingly decorated; and a plethora of AV materials all the way from books, through videos, CDs, board games and jigsaws (we did three - great for son bonding - as was rewatching all the [provided] Indiana Jones' on sequential nights).

There was a very nice arrival gift of some luxury supplies as well as all sorts of bonuses and extras throughout the apt (most surreal were wellies and a christmas tree?! - in cupboards). All appliances were supplied and in excellent condition: washer, drier, dishwasher, vacuum, toaster etc... I simply have never rented a better provisioned flat (we even brought towels but didn't need them).

I always make a big deal of showers in my reviews - because they matter to me :) This one was 5-star, great pressure, spread and temperature - in a very spacious enclosure in a huge bathroom - I have stayed in a few 5-star hotels and this absolutely equals the best.

No Wifi (or reception on vodafone 3G) but some very nice coffee shops (including a teashop with a strangely Mexican themed menu) within easy walking distance with free WiFi - and of course Edinburgh has great 4G.

The kids had a twin bed room overlooking a street to the rear harbour (there are three sections to the harbour) which they loved (they can be a bit fussy). The wife and I had the front bedroom, window open - listening to the surf and seagulls. The bed and bedding were comfortable and fresh. I think the only minor stress I had from the flat was the pale carpet in the hallway (we have two pre-teen boys) - and that was self imposed stress.

Even parking was easy - on the harbour outside the apt building (we could see the car from the room although that's not important here).

So - brilliant (and unexpectedly well stocked) apartment - top marks.

“Great views and review!!”
Reviewed 2 August 2015 for a stay in July 2015

This was the best stocked apartment we have ever stayed at. Sally has thought of everything from the welcome basket on arrival to the wellies and picnic bag in the cupboard!!

The only missing thing was wifi xx would recommend graze on the high street for good coffee and wifi .

Wonderful views of the harbour and a lovely relaxing stay. Great that the leisure centre is so close.

Would recommend to anyone looking for a break in East Lothian
