“Accomodation that is offered with many extra special thoughts to our holiday happiness!”
Reviewed 20 April 2015 for a stay in April 2015

We have just returned after a blissful week spent at New Barn Farm.

We arrived late on Easter day to find Easter Eggs and a lovely Easter card welcoming us....and not only that but freshly baked scones, clotted cream, jam and 6 lovely free range eggs. So thoughtful.

Our cottage was called Anglers Rest and had everything we needed for two adults and two children. Our children are aged 2 & 4 - and everything was perfectly safe including kind (free) supply of stair gate. The kitchen is brilliant equipped - everything you need & more - esp if you fancy doing any baking. The outside space really was fantastic...with a cute area outside the lounge doors with picnic table....we ate outside quite a few times. And then headed out of the little back gate into huge green pastures to watch the sunset. This really is the best of the whole place. All you can see is green for miles and miles. The field leads down to wooded areas - and we didn't see another person there at all. So quiet. There are chickens & ducks close to the cottages - so the kids loved visiting those. (No cockerels - so no early morning wake up calls!) There is also a childrens play area and many other walks (which we didn't get time to explore sadly). The owners Yvonne and Simon were so welcoming and just lovely fun people. Only there if you needed them and otherwise unseen. The farm hands were really smiley and always waving to the kids - or answering little questions about the chickens!

With regard to what to do locally...well it was so hard to choose as there is so much to do. Heres what we achieved in the week!
Paignton vintage steam train: amazing trip along the coast. £39 family ticket included ferry crossing to gorgeous Dartmouth
Bigbury on Sea: fantastic wide sandy beach with rock pools galore and interesting Burgh island. Trendy café with organic food
Totnes fleamarket - Fridays and Saturdays. Great for vintage hunting and farmers market foods. Also Totnes is just a beautiful town with live band in the square...great shops and gorgeous deli food everywhere
Paignton Zoo - I'm not really a zoo person but it was done really well
Totnes Rare Breeds Farm - a cute little petting farm where the kids can let themselves into the mini paddocks to feed goats, sheep etc. We had to drag ours out screaming. They would have stayed all week
Swimming - we used the free passes for the nearby leisure centre which was fab - only us and one other in the pool
Car boot sale - what a stroke of luck, there is a car boot sale on the nearby (walkable) farmers field every Saturday. I found some lovely vintage bits and great childrens toys
Paignton - is a typical old fashioned seaside resort, we visited on a hot & hectic day so only went the once but the beach and pier were lots of fun...and great for the kids play area and the chips! Scoffs had ques out of the door, the fish was amazing

So all in all the perfect holiday! Thanks so much to all at New Barn Farm!
