We stayed here for 3 nights in January - and 3 very cold days - but we need not have worried because not only did we receive a warm welcome, but our room was beautifully warm and the breakfasts heartening for the cold days ahead.
Durham is a lovely city, steeped in history, and there was plenty to do. There's an excellent restaurant within 10 minutes walk of the B&B (Finnbars) and another great find is Oldfields, which offers a 25% discount for people staying at the Victorian Town House. Also, because the B&B was handily close to the station, we took the opportunity to visit nearby Newcastle - only 12 minutes by rail.
Andy and Jill were attentive hosts, and had provided the little extras we had asked for (champagne and chocolates) on arrival. Our room (Flambard) was spotlessly clean and had a view of the park and cathedral. The bathroom was a good size with bathrobes provided.
All in all, we would recommend this lovely little boutique B&B when visiting this lovely part of the country.
