“Beautiful country accommodation in North Devon”

My wife and I stayed in Snapper Mead for 3 nights as part of a 10 day trip around Devon and Cornwall in July 2015. On arrival, Valerie had made us some homemade bread and left some essential supplies in the upstairs kitchen (milk, eggs, butter, jam, tea bags etc) which was a lovely welcome. The accommodation is very clean, comfortable and extremely spacious with beautiful views of their immaculate garden. The accommodation is only a 5 minute drive from Barnstaple and was the perfect spot from which to explore North Devon. I would highly recommend this charming property for anyone who wants a relaxed retreat in North Devon. 10/10

“Home from home”

Well, if you were to think the reviews of this place are too good to be true you'd be mistaken

Val and Dave were most welcoming on arrival, gave a very helpful tour of the accommodation and facilities and made a very genuine offer to help in any way they could during our stay. Having done that they left us to get on with our stay in a most unobtrusive way, although it was good to know they were around much of the time, just in case.

The accommodation is superb, everything is there that you could possibly need to enjoy a home from home, which is what Snapper Mead felt like to us. The gardens are a joy, although I suffered a little allotment envy - Dave's peas were doing far better than mine! Then there is the view, wow, it's really wonderful. This corner of Devon is one of the nicest places in the country and Snapper Mead is a very tranquil corner of it.

Everywhere was clean and tidy in the accommodation and it was a joy to stay there. The milk and eggs left in the fridge for us and the fresh fruit on the table were a very kind and helpful gesture and the loaf of freshly baked bread was fantastic.

Thank you Val and Dave for a truly wonderful stay in your lovely home. It recharged the batteries like nothing else could. We look forward to a return visit and to meeting both of you again.

“Great quality accommodation in a beautiful area.”

Spent 3 nights at Snapper Mead looking for a bit of a 'get away' with my husband and our dog to do some walking and relaxing. We were very warmly welcomed by the owners and they'd left us a freshly baked loaf of bread, with some fruit, milk, fresh eggs and wine and chocolate - all of which was very unexpected but a really lovely touch. Everything in the house was of top quality and extremely clean. The grounds are absolutely beautiful and very relaxing to sit in. The location of the house is perfect for exploring the surrounding countryside and beaches. Barnstaple town in less than 10mins drive.

“A very relaxing comfortable stay”

We booked this property for it's location which offered us a countryside outlook with town and coastal amenities not too far away. All communications were quickly answered. Previous reviews were encouraging and we were not disappointed on arrival. The hosts were both very welcoming and discrete during our stay, The description of the property was accurate and the garden/land was a delight to wander around. This is a very clean and homely two storey 'apartment' which includes a ground floor lounge with log burning stove, a first floor kitchen and large bedroom with en-suite facilities in the form of a spacious wet-room. No fault could be found with the accommodation as every aspect of a 'home from home' was there. The WiFi was very reliable during our stay, for those who consider it an essential amenity. The 'New Inn' in the nearby village, was a great suggestion offered by our hosts, as the food and service there is a credit to this traditional establishment. Overall a very comfortable and relaxing stay in lovely surroundings with easy access to the town of Barnstaple and the North Devon coast. Many thanks. Highly recommended for this type of stay.

“THE BEST ACCOMMODATION WE HAVE EVER STAYED IN!”
Reviewed 29 July 2014 for a stay in July 2014

Val and Dave are two of the most pleasant and helpful hosts you could ever meet.
From the moment we arrived we were made most welcome and were given a tour of the accommodation which exceeded all our expectations.
The quality and attention to detail were second to none. They have thought of everything you could possibly need for a comfortable stay and everything was spotless and well maintained.
We loved the views from every room which took in their beautiful garden and surrounding woodland.
Thanks Val and Dave for a wonderful break, we will definitely be back!
