Just returned from a 3 night break at WMV. First time staying here and we will definitely return. Although slightly disappointed by Bowness - a couple of years since we last visited and it has become a tad too 'fish and chip shop' touristy for us, however, the accomodation more than made up for it. The complex is a fantastic base for sightseeing the area and it is a particularly good base for cyclists. The apartment was large and roomy and fitted out to a high standard, washing machine, dishwasher, NEFF oven etc. We stayed at the end of Jan and WMV was perfectly quiet and peaceful - luxury. The staff on checking in/out were helpful and effecient. We hope to go again in Nov and cycle the area more, visit Cartmel and do some more quad biking which was great fun.
Great balcony area overlooking the marina with a handful of local greedy ducks! Be careful not to slip, the decking can get a bit slippy in the winter months. The bed was a little soft for me but this did not detract from a really great 3 days in a lovely location in superb accomodation.

Room Tip: They all looked good to us!

The apartment we chose at the Windermere Marina Village exceeded expectation.
It was very modern with a delightful view across the marina, fully equipped and sesigner kitchen and stunning bathroom. The two bedrooms were furnished with the most comfortable beds you could wish for. There was a laundry with washing machine and dryer. The lounge and dining room were open plan with the kitchen. The lounge suite was very low to the ground and slightly uncomfortable but that was a minor issue when in residence at such a stunning place.
The apartment was upstairs so there could be an issue if climbing stairs (with luggage) is difficult. Ample parking right to the door.
The village is decently positioned, a short and enjoyable walk away from the main Windermere centre.
I would thoroughly recommend this property, the prices are very reasonable, especially when sharing costs, for what you will surely be delighted with.

Arrived at night...woke to find a stunning location (windy & rainy, but non the less) with first class interiors. Huge lounge, bathrooms lovely, a kitchen better than mine.

Perfect base for outdoors/walking weekend or total relaxing on the massive soft leather sofas

Will be returning for sure

After staying at the Lancaster House Hotel one night last November, we went for a drive along Windermere and decided to stop and have a look at the Marina at Bowness. We spotted the sales office so enquired about availability etc, as we wanted to stop somewhere for a weekend prior to Christmas for my wife, son, daughter and their respective partners to spend some quality time together. We stopped in one of the cottages which slept 6 people. The two bedrooms were really comfortable, both being effectively en-suite and the pull down double bed in the living room was ideal. The furnishings and overall layout of the cottage were excellent, with close attention to detail and superb finish. The upstairs living room with patio door to the balcony provided a stunning view over the Marina. Everything was provided for a superb stay, and we felt at home as soon as we arrived there. Bowness is only a 15-20 minute walk and there are plenty of shops to see and places to eat. There’s even a small Tesco for anyone self catering. All six of us would love to return, and this really did make our Christmas this year. Can't wait to go back!

Have stayed at Windermere Marina Village 20+ times over the years (the cottages used to be Timeshare). It is a great place to stay and the accommodation (both the cottages and apartments) are furnished / fitted out to a very high standard. Some of the original cottages (up to about number 17 I think) are a little on the small side inside, but this is not a problem unless you plan to have the maximum number of people staying there. The second pahse of cottages (number 18 onwards) are all about 50% bigger inside.

There is (or will be by next Easter) an on-site pool & bar / restaurant (both were present before, but the building has been demolished & is being rebuilt).

Bowness on Windermere is a leisurely 20min walk from the Marina and there is a wide range of places to eat here, all at pretty good prices. Roberto's on Bowness (reviewed on Trip Advisor) is a favourite of mine. If you are happy to drive from the Marina to eat out, then there are more good pubs & restaurants in the area than I can mention.

The only complaint / negative comment about the Marina Village is the electricity charges - they should include these in the cottage / apartment rental. The Marina Village have done their homework on electricity charges to see exactly what they can and cannot charge. It is illegal for them to charge the guest more than they pay for the electricity - so you pay a normal (or fairly competitive) price for the electricity you use. They can, however, add on whatever daily charge they like for providing the electricity supply to the cottage / apartment, so they charge about £1.50 a DAY just for the convenience of an electricity supply. At one time, electricity charges were (or are) included in the rental cost for weekend or short breaks, but not for week-long rentals - why?!

Thank you for taking the time to review Windermere Marina Village, I am pleased that you continue to enjoy the accommodation.
Our policy for electricity charges has recently been reviewed and we have incorporated the charges for a large portion of the year into the cottage rental tariff for all breaks.
Thanks again for your comments I will ensure they are communicated to the management team.
We hope to welcome you to Windermere Marina Village again soon.
Warm regards
Tracii
