This is a large statue of the mad king george 3rd. It is in middle of the road on an island. It is beautiful to see and have a sea bath as well. It is the centre point for weymouth.

This is where we picked up our buses when we travelled on the open topped bus to Portland Bill and also the bus to Poole. The area is clean and tidy and once at this point you can find the staff of Weymouth shopping area which is definitely worth a visit.

This statue was really bright coloured and well maintained. King George III looks like he stepped right out of a book from the French Renaissance period, meanwhile the gold lion looks spectacular. Kids will love the unicorn, also painted beautifully.

I am disappointed that the surrounding fence structure is so bland and dirty, as it takes away from the wonderment of the monument pieces. I suppose it exists to stop people from climbing onto the monument, thereby making it easier to maintain and keep looking beautiful but it is a shame they've chosen this type of fencing. Perhaps painting it white or something less "prison" style would be better.

I didn't realise the history behind this statue but have since learnt that due to his illness he came to Weymouth for the therapeutic use of the sea and he thought it so beautiful on his first visit that it became very fashionable as a holiday resort and that was the beginnings for Weymouth

Colourful and well maintained statue of Weymouth's most renowned visitor. Also serves as the bus terminus.
