“Perfect for our needs - very well equipped”

We stayed here for a long weekend in September for a triathlon event in weymouth. There were six adults, one toddler and one baby. It was spacious enough for all of us, and the kitchen was equipped with everything we could have possibly needed :) We were extremely impressed. There is a huge hall - perfect for storing prams/bikes/bags etc - and we thought the house was excellent value for money.
The only downside was the outside lighting - if you're planning on leaving at 4am one day, take torch to find/pack your car!

“A perfect holiday getaway”
Reviewed 23 August 2015 for a stay in August 2015

Smuggler's Haunt does not disappoint - the photos on the website are a true reflection of this lovely property. We arrived late afternoon on the Saturday, having spoken to Kate on the way down, and were met with a very welcome basket full of fruit, wine and biscuits. The rooms were beautifully furnished and the house itself was fully stocked with anything you might need, including a cupboard full of board games and colouring materials for the children. The house was spotlessly clean smelt lovely! Having the twin room leading off one of the doubles was perfect for the two children who went up to bed without any problems in a strange place. The playroom was a fantastic idea, perfect for young children. All the rooms are spacious and airy, and the garden was great for the boys to have a kick about or for the adults to relax in at the end of a busy day!
The location of the property is very handy for the short drive into Weymouth but also close enough to other coastal areas. Lyme Regis is definitely worth a visit, for it's bustling shops and the rock pools at Church Cliff beach, and also Dinosaurland Fossil Museum. The Sealife Centre was a (very expensive but really enjoyable) life-saver on a rainy day, and we all enjoyed the ride in the Sea Life Tower, too.
I would highly recommend Smuggler's Haunt to anyone and wouldn't hesitate to stay there again.

Go to eat at Hix Academy in Weymouth College. Wonderful restaurant (not in the college canteen) staffed by learners, brilliant food at half posh restaurant prices. Also Al Molo, italian restaurant in Weymouth. Really good coasteering place at Potland for youngsters.

“A beautiful, well-presented holiday home”
Reviewed 30 May 2015 for a stay in May 2015

This was an excellent, well-presented and well-equipped holiday home in a beautiful location. It was ideal for us - an extended three generation family aged from 21 months to 68 years. The house was immaculate and the added touch of flowers and a welcome pack was much-appreciated. Also the provision of games and toys was great and we all enjoyed playing Boules in the garden. We were met at the house by Kate who gave us a tour and provided information about local amenities.
The house is a short walk (5- 8 minutes) from a couple of shops, including a small Co-operative supermarket, a pub - 'The Wyke Smugglers' which serves food and the bus stop for buses into Weymouth or Portland, a good service every 7 - 10 minutes. There's a fish and chip shop about 10 -12 minutes walk.
There's a walk along a disused railway line into Weymouth -The Rodwell Trail, which starts about 20 minutes walk from the house opposite the Ferrybridge Inn just before the causeway to Portland. The open-top bus passes through Wyke Regis and goes to Portland Bill, hourly in the high season.
You really don't need a car unless you are planning to go long distances. For a short trip there's plenty to see and do in the immediate area.
