“First time stay at the Cottage”
Reviewed 6 August 2012

Olympic Sailing at Weymouth and Portland was the reason I booked. Am so glad we stayed at the Cottage as it was very close. Very warm and hospitable. Maureen made us feel very welcome as soon as we arrived and was willing to help in any way that she could. Room was very comfortable and really slept well. Breakfast was a real treat and lots of variety with fresh fruit salad and tasty cooked meal.

Following a lovely break at The Cottage in 2011, we were thrilled to return for a longer stay at the end of July this year.

Mark and Maureen are charming hosts - extremely friendly, attentive and helpful, and warmly welcoming to their lovely home which is charming and set in a beautiful garden. The Cottage is quiet and restful, tucked away from any traffic and with views of open counrtyside. There is a warm intimacy in the house and guests are free to come and go as they please.

The bedrooms are very pretty, comfortable and spotless. The bed linen and towels are changed daily, and tea and coffee is provided in the rooms. Guests are encouraged to sit in or to walk around the gorgeous garden, and on fine mornings breakfast can be served on the terrace. The breakfasts are outstanding, with wonderful fresh fruit salad, cereals, many choices of cooked breakfast, and toast served with home-made preserves.

The village of Sutton Poyntz is delightful, full of lovely old cottages, winding pathways, a bubbling river and a village pond; an evening walk around is to be recommended! It is wonderfully placed for visiting the Jurassic Coast and all that Dorset has to offer.

Once again, our stay was all perfect and we hope to return again. Thank you Maureen and Mark, for your wonderful hospitality and for making our stay so memorable.

Vicky and Dinah

We stay in Weymouth often, and this is the first time we stayed at this cottage. The room was beautifully decorated and presented. We had our own bathroom, complete with fluffy towels and dressing gowns. Maureen made us feel very welcome and her attention to detail is second to none. Sutton pontz is an ideal location for both the sea which is short walk away and the countryside which is right on the doorstep. We only stayed for one night, but would not hesitate to recommend this to anyone and I am sure we will be back. Breakfast was gorgeous - Lots of choice and served in the conservatory which overlooks a beautiful garden.

I originally stayed at The Cottage in Weymouth about a year ago with my father. It's the perfect location for visiting places like Lulworth Cove, Swanage and other great places along the Dorset coast. It's also tucked away at the base of the hills so you feel very much away from any built up areas. This time I stayed with my mother and we both had a fantastic time. Once again, the reception was splendid with lovely spacious and clean rooms, topped off with an outstanding breakfast. They have a great understanding of the balance between being over attentive and giving the people staying enough space to not feel smothered. Even though we were the only ones staying this weekend (due to the incredibly poor weather) the level of service was very high indeed. Needless to say I would recommend this B&B to anyone staying down near the Jurassic Coast and will definitely be returning in the future!

A bit late writing my review as we stayed here over Easter but we had such a lovely visit so I thought better late than never! I would normally stay at my mum and dad's but they were fully booked with the rest of the family so we chose this cottage as it was so close to their house and a very good choice it was!

Mark and Maureen couldn't be more helpful and welcoming. The cottage was lovely, clean and comfortable, with a lovely conservatory to relax in and beautiful garden and space. We had an en suite with a lovely view and the breakfast choice was brlliant. I was very pleased with my hot cross bun on Easter Sunday too!

We know the area very well and didn't need any help however I noticed that Maureen was very informative about what to do in the area to other guests, providing maps and ideas for walks along the coastal routes. Once Maureen knew we knew the area and had plans with the family she left us to come and go as we pleased but was always showed interested in our plans.

I would highly recommend this B&B, it is in a lovely setting near to lots of walks and friendly pubs and a short drive/bus ride form the beach. Certainly if we come across the situation again of needing an overflow from mum and dads we would have no hesitation in returning here or recommending to other family and friends.

Thanks again for such a lovely stay (and my hot cross bun)
