“Just what we wanted”

A warm welcome, with just the essential information given by Nigel. Room was good, clean and with all necessary extras. Breakfast was excellent- egg boiled to perfection. A gem tucked away near the marina. If we needed somewhere in Weymouth again we would definitely book here!

Having suffered the trauma of a house completion that hadn't gone through we were anxious to lower our stress levels whilst we waited for solicitors to complete paperwork. It was a blessing therefore to stay in this comfortable and welcoming guest house. Nigel and We ndy have been very flexible with our length of stay, breakfast requests etc. They have gone the extra mile in providing us with extra tea bags and an endless supply of fresh milk during the day in order to save us extra expense. Suggestions have been made as to activities to while away the hours in this beautiful area and their wealth of local knowledge has meant that we are able to find interesting places / routes we might not have discovered with a guide book. We are now into our second week here and are still enjoying the freshly cooked breakfasts and wide variety of fruit available. It is going to take some beating when we move in to our new home. The bed linen and towels have been changed regularly and the room has been tidied. The location is perfect as we can walk into the town within minutes and avoid the parking fees.We couldn't have asked for more and have been really grateful for the attention we have received.

We returned today from a lovely 2 night stay with Nigel and Wendy.Very clean room and comfortable bed with perfect plumped up pillows! Beautiful clean soft fresh smelling bedding. The breakfast was yummy with a great fresh varied menu. We had the opportunity to request later breakfasts than the usual 8 to 8.30 sitting but there was so much to do and see in Weymouth we needed to have breakfast at a reasonable time.Parking on the forecourt was a plus and with only a five minute walk to to town, the very quiet location was perfect. We would definitely stay with these lovely hosts if we visit Weymouth again. Paul and Debbie x

Room Tip: Room 3 has large opening bay windows and is bright and airy.

This is our second visit this year to Lacey's Guest House and we were once again treated very well. The room was excellent, the food was wonderful and Nigel and Wendy cannot do enough for you. It is only a 5 minute walk into town as well so no parking fees. I had told Nigel when i booked that it was our wedding anniversary and when we arrived there was chocolates and flowers.

Wonderful

This is tough to write but I do feel that Trip Advisor relies upon honesty in order to suceed, stayed recently at Laceys and frankly I wouldnt return. The owner Nigel is perfectly friendly but I did find the endless advice and pointers on how to enjoy my trip tiresome. I am 35 years old and perfectly able to use a kettle and switch a light off without needing chapter and verse on how to do it.

Everywhere is very clean but the ensuite is very small for an £80 a night bed and breakfast.

Breakfast is served in a strict 30 min window which makes you feel a bit like you are being dictated to. An hour slot is industry standard and widely accepted. 30 mins is really a bit over the top. I am a bit of a fan of cooked breakfast and the breakfast was made from very very cheap ingredients, no taste at all and extremely bland.

The bed was very comfortable and as I say the place was very clean, however it absolutely had the feel of a longterm residents place rather than a bright and breezy holiday venue. As we were leaving Nigel was very insistent that we give him a review on here and as requested here is our review.

I have no doubt that all my comments will be rebutted in full with the owners stating that most of his guests dont feel the same way however this review is my genuine feelings of my stay at Laceys

Laceyswey, Owner at Lacey's Bed & Breakfast, responded to this review, 9 October 2011
We would like to thank this reviewer (not anonymous to us) for taking the time and trouble in writing a “tough” review. It obviously wasn’t that hard, as he has certainly gone to town on us. We could go through each and every account, but quite frankly, whatever he says, why? Look at our other reviews.

It states on our menu (that guests fill in themselves), that if breakfast is required outside the allotted time, then ASK, not a hard thing to do. As to the quality of breakfast, the return of empty plates from other guests says it all! We talk to our guests on arrival, this guest obviously knew everything! Other guests are very grateful for us spending time with them and not just whisking them off to their room and leaving them to it. That’s why we have a “Welcome Guest Award” from the Jurassic Coast Association. I think this reviewer has taken things a little too far regarding turning the kettle on, etc. but, obviously, he felt the public should know about these things.

The owners do not rebut people comments, as long as they are sensible. This reviewer has shared HIS genuine feelings of his stay – fortunately, other guests have also stated their genuine feelings and we are extremely grateful that they have taken the time and trouble to let us and you know regardless of whether they have stayed one night (this guest) or several.
