The food here is excellent as was the service, atmosphere and peaceful location, we opted to share the 32oz Rib Eye on the bone £43.95 complete with all four sauces plus we ordered chips and a salad to go with it, well worth every penny!

The service was relaxed but prompt, they fully catered for my gluten free diet checking each individual menu item despite it being prepared fresh daily.

We couldn't fault the food or the service and would definitely eat here again, actually we can't wait to go back for that steak a 2nd time.!!

Based on our first experience this certainly seems like a Ronseal restaurant - albeit quite pricey Ronseal.

The Westwood serves a small menu of contemporary food and does it mostly very well. It does not seem to try too hard, equally it probably doesn't excel.

Crab cake with avocado and crab was excellent. Generous and flavourful, it went well with the (cost) option bread and butter. The Cep Macaroni Cheese with summer truffles and white asparagus was a little bland, made worse by the large pieces of juicy asparagus. It needed more flavour and a better sauce.

Lobster main course was better, a huge lobster (the waiter told me it was the biggest they had and as I was first to order!). It was dressed well and served with sauce Bernaise. The rocket and watercress went with it well, the crinkly chips less so.

The other main course was something special very rarely seen in restaurants (and when it is it is usually a deceit- even on the Great British Menu a top chef claimed to be cooking sea trout when it was clearly a rainbow trout complete with pink stripe - it may have been grown in the sea but that does not make it a sea trout). Wild sea trout - and if it was not the real thing it sure had us fooled. A beautiful, sweet, delicate fish so rarely eaten by anyone other than anglers. My wife declared it the best fish she has ever eaten.

Desserts were Valrhona chocolate fondants - good, peanut butter ice cream, excellent brittle.

Overall very good, does not try too hard, nothing too clever, a small menu to allow focus on quality. Recommended and we will be back.

Attended last Thursday evening with friends, celebrating a birthday. Faultless is the only way I can describe our experience. Food was plentiful and very tasty, service was impeccable. Will certainly return.

Tina and I went to the Westwood on Saturday 28th July for an 8.30pm reservation, tried to book on Friday and was told that they were fully booked, was put on the cancellation list and very gratefully recieved a phone call on Saturday afternoon offering a table for 8.30pm. Great service I thought. I was really impressed with the choice of menu however to be told they had no sirloin or L steaks on a Saturday night at a Grill House was ridiculous, how can you advertisie yourself as a grill restaurant and have run out of steaks on a Saturday night? Settled on lamb as an alternative, certainly was not disappointed and Tina loved the Skipsea wild seabass. Overall a fantastic dining experience however running out of steaks is inexcusable for any restaurant nevermind one rated so highly.
