“Wonderful location, sweet B&B”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 7 April 2012

Agree with all the positive reviews on here; we stayed for a weekend recently and had an absolutely wonderful stay.
Breakfasts are incredible, all locally sourced. Emphasis on sustainability, with Denby crockery chosen for the eco qualities.
Staff extremely friendly and helpful; lots of folders on restaurants and walks, with free takeaway maps.
Fresh bite sized cakes every day - yummy!
They have a lovely 'snug' room which could benefit from having the fire on in the evening as we found it too cold to sit in; honesty bar is stocked with some wonderful local produce (rhubarb vodka for example), unfortunately however, no mixers were present so we didn't try them.
Location perfect for the village (high street round the corner), train station (2 min walk) bike hire (at station) and walks right into the woods (5-10 mins).
Room itself - we were on the ground floor - had a very comfortable bed, all amenities needed, lovely bath with great toiletries (conditioner, hand lotion etc. all included). Some mention the noise; we were not concerned by noises from other rooms, but, unfortunately the divider door in the coridoor just outside was very loud, and woke us up on several occassions in the night / early morning.
Would definitely return on next trip to the New Forest, wish we could have stayed for the week!

I cannot praise this paradise in the New forest enough.

We have just returned from staying only 1 night and it was just brilliant.

The Cottage Lodge is easy to find being practically in the middle of Brockenhurst, when we arrived the donkeys and ponies were on the lawn right outside.

There are more than ample amount of parking spaces and the car park is secure.

We were greeted by Christina the owner as soon as we walked in the door and she couldn't of been more accommodating, we were treated to a cup of tea and cake and given some amazing advice on where to have lunch at somethings brewing - http://www.somethings-brewing.co.uk/ which was lovely and perfect for a small or large home made snack. We were then given details of a restaurant for dinner the Thatched Cottage - http://www.thatched-cottage.co.uk/ where we had the most perfect dinner and felt incredibly spoilt with the food and service.

We were also given a map for a short walk which took us around an hour and gave us a chance to see all of the interesting sites in Brockenhurst, some of which were St Nicholas Church and the Snake Catcher Pub which are well worth a visit.

The room we had inside the cottage lodge "The Burley" was just perfect, the bathroom had a walk in shower, the Tv and Dvd player very good with a great selection of up to date films free to watch, tea and coffee making facilities, a perfect bed which was firm and full of pillows and to top it all of a little balcony with a table and 2 chairs which was perfect for the afternoon sunshine.

In the morning we both had a full english breakfast with all the trimmings which was just remarkable. Whilst eating breakfast we got to witness something very rare the owner came round every table and discussed with them about there stay and even managing to mention at least one personal piece of information for each guest. For us it was the fact we had just had a baby and where we ate the night before, truly remarkable service and such a rarity in this day and age to find such a personal touch.

In Summary the cottage lodge is not a Bed and Breakfast or a hotel it is a Shangila to while away as much time as you can manage in a perfect paradise.

We are recommending it to everyone we know is visiting the new forest and now have the calendar out trying to work out when our next visit will be!!

Thank you Cottage Lodge and see you soon ....

If you are planning a trip to see the ponies, this place is certainly worth a look. We took advantage of a voucher deal and this made the stay value for money. As we had our two dogs, we had to pay an additional charge which seemed reasonable.

The rooms are comfortable, clean and well appointed. However, its "pine and chinz" so if you are used to sleek white, and super king beds then this is not the place for you. Its not trying to be anything its not - which is refreshing!

We had a really warm welcome, and complentary coffee - although they do make a point of saying the cakes are baked in house, this wasn't the case when we were there.

I had a really good two nights sleep, however if you are in the rooms at the back, the dog friendly room, be prepared to be woken up pretty early by the staff. This wasn't a problem for us as we wanted to be up and out, but for those wanting a lie in. Perhaps the upper rooms would be better.

The bathrooms were great! Lots of hot water and consistant pressure in the shower. Nice touches with added extras. Radox etc.

I probably wouldn't pay the rack rate for this Hotel/B&B, but if you get the chance to take advantage of an offer then this makes it value for money!

Overall a pleasant stay, warm staff and above average breakfast!

Very charming place to stay the staff are extremely friendly and Christina is a mine of information on what to do and where to go. Everything you need is catered for, even down to Radox in the bathrooms and cake to help yourself to in the Snug. The beds were extremely comfortable I never sleep first night in a strange bed but I did !! We would definately stay here again and recommend it thoroughly nothing is too much trouble and standards are excellent

we thoughly enjoyed our stay at cottage lodge.our room had a lounge, balcony and bedroom so we were able to indulge ourselves by having our excellent breakfasts in our room whilst others may prefer it in bed. our hosts were very friendly and nothing was too much trouble. very good value for money.

Room Tip: try and get the one with the balcony
