“Homely Cottage in a great location”
Reviewed 25 April 2016 for a stay in April 2016

A lovely cottage for our family weekend .We had everything we needed and were very comfortable. The bedrooms were spacious and the whole cottage was well equipped. The area and village are great. We really enjoyed our stay.

“Could be a lovely place to stay”

The cottage is in a lovely location, overlooking where ponies graze and just a short walk into Brokenhurst or the forest with its wonderful walks.
The cottage itself is sweet, there's a lovely fire in the lounge and the kitchen is well equipped. However it is a little tired and not as clean as we expected, if I was the cleaner I wouldn't be happy leaving it at that standard for guests. The pillows were lumpy, the curtains in one bedroom were ripped and it was obvious that dogs had been there, not something we mind if the hairs are cleaned up after!
It's a shame as the cottage could be lovely if it was just spruced up a little and a different cleaner was used!
Stephen, the owner, was charming and helpful and we still had a great weekend away.
We enjoyed lovely meals at The Drift Inn in Beaulieu Road and also at The Newforest in Ashurst. Both have children's play areas and direct forest walks. The Red Shoot at Linwood is also a fab place to eat with a little toddlers play room. Puttles Bridge, near the cottage, is a wonderful place to walk.

Management Response
8 Nov 2015
"It is somewhat disappointing and sad to receive such a poor rating, when every effort was made to make these guests as welcome and as comfortable as possible and they clearly enjoyed themselves tremendously! However, the cottage is always cleaned as thoroughly as possible, especially for pets and alternative bedding, including pillows, is always available, if required or requested. Always best to check for yourself!"

“cosy, old-fashioned cottage in idyllic New Forest location”
Reviewed 12 February 2015 for a stay in January 2015

We had a fantastic week winter break in this cosy cottage. The location is beautiful. There are New Forest ponies and cows grazing on the green outside the front door. You can walk straight out into the heart of the forest, for miles. The village has a good selection of friendly pubs and restaurants within walking distance. The cottage has everything you would need for the whole family, even the dog. There is ample room with beds and bedding for a large family, and a huge round table in the dining room with chairs in all shapes and sizes from a high chair upwards, and a conservatory for muddy wellies. The cottage is safe for young children with a stairgate and enclosed garden. It has heaps of cooking utensils and pots etc, lovely new Bosch appliances including a washing machine. It is warm, with loads of hot water for baths, or showers in a separate cubicle.

“Comfortable cottage in an excellent location.”
Reviewed 2 February 2015 for a stay in December 2014

We have rented this cottage for a week in December for two years running and hope to return. It has been warm, well equipped and comfortable. The décor was not 'high spec' but perfectly adequate, and it suited us. We believe this was reflected in the rental charge which was very reasonable for that area. The location is good as it is a short walk to pubs, shops and open forest. The mainline train station is a few minutes away. There is parking outside for a car.
