Just fallen in love with this place! We just popped in for a light lunch after walking our dog! Soooo dog friendly! The building and it's grounds are superb, staff are so friendly and helpful. We only had sandwiches and some chips but very tasty! Really impressed with the pigs ethos on organic and locally sourced produce. I can't wait to go for dinner there soon or even better a weekend stay!

We just spent two incredibly relaxing days and nights at The Pig Hotel before heading to business in London. The Pig is a charming country inn and restaurant complete with an organic locavore philosophy, wood burning fireplaces all over the main lodge and a staff who indulged my husband's love for adding another log to the fire (and another, and another).

The staff was really warm, friendly and accommodating - and one team member in particular - I didn't get her name but she was tall and thin with shortish dark hair - was so terrific. We felt like we were staying in someone's home (without the feeling of imposing though.) Our room (Tack Room) was bigger than I thought it would be with a huge bath, separate shower (with awesome water pressure), private W/C, comfy bed, fluffy down comforter and indulgent linens. It was in the refurbished stable area which aside from being in the shape of stable area is nothing like a stable.

After traipsing around the forest during the day, we had delicious dinners at the hotel both nights. I'd highly recommend reserving tables when you make your room reservations - all the the tables were full and turning over on both a Sunday and Monday night.

All told, the feeling of the The Pig is like the one you get when curling up in front of the fire with a good book and a steaming mug of hot chocolate....comfortable, cozy and satisfying.

Ditch pre-conceived ideas and expectations when you stay at the Pig.This hotel certainly does not belong to the cloned family of hotels that we have been brainwashed into expecting as the norm.Go with an open mind and spirit of adventure and you will not be disappointed. The Pig provided us with the refreshing joy that it is still possible to experience something surprisingly refreshing.Guests who might nitpick over un-expected or changed features are missing the point of the excitement of avant garde and should return to one of the stuffy clone hotels.Visit the pig with open mindedness and a pioneering outlook and you will enjoy a concept that is genuinely new.We love this new breed of hotel and cannot wait to return.

This hotel is an absolute gem.Our room was outstanding with fabulous touches( fresh milk, piles of interesting books, high powered hair drier ,quality bath products, vast comfortable bed with crisp Egyptian cotton sheets and both a shower and an enormous bath)

The dining room was brilliantly run, both the service and the food were excellent

The grounds were beautiful: balustrades of roses(not yet in bloom but with promise)dafodill lined walk ways, clusters of comfortable squashy outdoor chairs and sofas, raging log fires(heaven for smokers)The highlight is a walled kitchen garden and glass houses to die for.

All the staff were professional and charming

Thank you for a brilliant stay-

June Denny

Room Tip: Room 26 (Old Spot)-was fantastic

My husband and I have just returned home from a nights stay at The Pig.
We stayed in The Doghouse as we had our 5month old puppy with us.
Our visit from start to finish was utterly perfect!
The Doghouse was out of this world, cosy&warm as it had it's very own wood burning stove which pickle loved to lay in front of!
As for the evening meal, well what can I say!
Every mouthful was a taste sensation, and I know my food!!
We didn't want our visit to end but if you want to appreciate the finer things in life then these trips have to come to an end.
We can't thank everyone at The Pig enough for our little trip away.
As my husband commented 'If every Doghouse was as lovely&perfect as yours then men all over the world would be rejoicing!!'

Thank you once again!
Love Verity&Archie&Pickle

Official Description (provided by the hotel):
The Pig is a bang up to date take on a new style of home grown, 26 bedroom country house hotel and what that needs to be today - original, relaxed and sitting comfortably within its environment. It's really a restaurant with rooms. This is a place that is all about the walled garden and everything is driven by the gardener/forager and chef - they grow and find the food - the chef then makes the menu. The style is home grown in every way - breaking the mold of designed hotels, daring to be comfortable in its own skin, working with what it has and recognising what is good about that. It won't be perfect, it will be warm, relaxed, comfy, interesting, and homely with muted colours, a bit shabby chic and evolved rather than interior designed. ... more   less
