We enjoyed an excellent meal when we stopped on a Saturday night.

I understand that the Inn was extensively refurbished in May 2017 and is now very cosy.

We sat in the conservatory which is a bit noisier due to be acoustics but still very good. Would suggest good if you have children who would enjoy the small playground outside.

We really enjoyed a very good beetroot and feta cheese salad and between us had the macaroni cheese, the Thai fish curry and the fish pie - all very good indeed!

Warning - the helpings are very generous and we had no room for any dessert!

Add to the very good food, very good service and extremely reasonable prices - and a good choice of gins!!

Highly recommend!

We had an excellent lunch. We compared it with years ago when this was our local and our sons worked here in their uni hols. Although great changes the ambience was similar and building work only enhanced the building. Staff helpful. Food good.

We visited the Dartmoor halfway inn having to be regular visitors when we stayed on the campsite behind the pub.
This year was the first time we had visited since it's refurbishment and we were pleasantly surprised, what was an aging pub with poor decoration and a poor reputation has become a lovely space which was welcoming with a great atmosphere.
We visited in late afternoon/evening and intended just to have a drink to see what the place was like but after seeing several wonderful looking meal leaving the kitchen we decide to eat there.
I had the slow roasted belly pork, and my wife had the steak and ale pie.
Both dishes were cooked beautifully, and the portion size was not small.
Both of us fully enjoyed our meals and said when we came back next year we would definitely eat there again

Visited for lunch without a booking.
Great customer service and absolutely fabulous food. We had nachos, ham hock terrine, beetroot and goat cheese salad & tomato and mozzarella salad to start and were wowed by the portion size.
Main courses of Mussels, Steak Pie and Monkfish and Prawn Thai green curry were generous, delicious and presented beautifully and it was wonderful to receive a child’s Macaroni Cheese that wasn’t pale, insipid mush!
Desserts were great-chocolate brownie in particular.
Highly recommend and will definitely visit again when in the area.
