I visited The Old Vicarage for a family friend's wedding. The venue is lovely and despite being on the main A35 and near the railway line, there is no inkling that you are so close to the hustle and bustle of everyday life. It feels as if you are in the middle of the countryside.
We were especially taken with how well the staff catered for our children's food allergies. The main food event of the daytime was Afternoon Tea. Given that my son has a serious milk allergy, this is a very daunting prospect at the best of times, even more so when you don't want to spoil someone's Big Day! We called the venue a few hours before the ceremony to double check that the organisers had informed the caterers (they had). When we arrived, we parked in the "field" and walked the short distance through the gardens to the Old Vicarage, where we asked to speak to Tom. He ran through things discreetly and reassured us that everything was in hand. At the Afternoon Tea, we were served with scones, sandwiches, cakes, tea / coffee and cookies / biscuits. As Tom knew where we were sitting, he made sure that the food in front of us was safe for our children (almond milk scones, specially made sandwiches, free from cakes, etc). All this was carried out with so much discretion that the people next to us didn't even realise that our food was different. It's just a shame that they only do special events, not everyday dining, as we'd probably end up eating here every week!

Went to a wedding at this hotel. From the main road the car park entrance is just by the fruit farm and it is quite easy to miss it. The car park is laid to grass and then you walk through under an arbor to the gardens which are very mature and provide plenty of photo opportunities and room for children to run around.

There is a marquee in the garden for the wedding breakfast.

Inside the building has lots of character and charm. The ceremony was inside as the weather was a bit iffy and it was quite windy although it is possible to get married outside on a fine day. There is a tree outside the building with a swing on it which is decorated with flowers and great for photos.

This is a lovely wedding venue which provides the full package. Can't comment on the prices as we were guests.

We booked the Old Vicarage for afternoon tea following a burial at Woodlands. I know it has a reputation for weddings, but have not been their for years.
We were greeted by lovely staff, a very warm and cozy venue which was very welcome on such a cold day.
The food was laid out on a table with china cups and saucers, really elegant, and the buffet was outstanding, especially the warm sausage rolls and scones with lashings of cream and jam, sandwiches, and lovely cakes. It all tasted home made, and everyone commented how lovely it was.
The room was elegant, a lovely Christmas tree( two weeks before Christmas) which didn't feel out of place even for our occasion, and background music.
We had pots of tea and coffee supplied, and there is a bar for those who wanted a drink.
Overall this really is a hidden gem , although local, i had no idea how beautiful it was inside. Perfect for any occasion.
Thank you everyone for making our afternoon go so well.
