We regularly meet friends for a drink in The New Inn but had not eaten here for a long time. It was Monday evening and we were hungry. The beef lasagne with garlic bread and the scampi and fries were just what we wanted. Good home-cooked pub grub, friendly service and a cheery atmosphere - thank you Jenna and Ana.

I can't comment on the food but the service is appalling.

We were booked in as part of an 80th birthday party, and unfortunately we could not make it due to being delayed on the motorway and having a very unsettled 4 month old baby due to the journey. Due to battery on our phones we were unable to notify the restaurant/family members that we were definitely unable to attend until we got home (about 8ish in the evening). By this time the chef had already cooked our meals, which is fine and understandable as we pre-booked.

However, at the end of the meal, with nothing more being said about our non-attendance, our parents were forced to pay for our 2 meals, which we obviously did not have. Of course this would have been fine if they gave them the meals to send home to us...When asked they said they had 'put the meals in the bin'...THEIR CHOICE and did so without even offering our parents the choice of whether they still wanted to have them, knowing themselves they were intending on charging for them. Our parents reluctantly paid for these meals as another family member would have paid to keep the peace if they did not.

When we heard about this ridiculous situation, I called them (Friday evening) and booked a table for Sunday evening (2 evenings later), pre-booking the same food and the woman on the phone agreed that the food has been paid for and our table was confirmed. Which of course was fine.

Only 2 hours before the meal, we received a phone call from the restaurant to say that we would not be receiving the food we paid for and if we still want the table we will have to pay. Going on to explain that they chucked away the food on the Friday because the chef has left it in the oven for too long and if we were able to make it late in the evening, we would have had 2 meals cooked from fresh instead. So they are telling us we couldn't have the food originally cooked for us because the chef basically ruined it so couldn't offer it to our parents to send home, so instead chucked it in the bin and charged us for it! ...so if we were able to make it would they have charged us twice...one for the ruined meal and one for the freshly prepared meal...NO they wouldn't of...so why charge us for a meal they chose to bin.

Of course if they didn't bin the food and allowed us to have it, we would have happily paid for it...or even told us in the beginning that we would be charged anyway so its up to us what we want to do with the meal but they didn't...
It clearly shows their service to their customers is appalling...

I have worked in customer service, at a 5 star restaurant and not once have I heard of this happening in my whole 5 years experience. I guess at the end of the day it just goes down to being a nice person and being an absolute jerk, and these restaurant owners are clearly the latter.

Made to pay for food we didn't have due and when we asked if we could take it with us they said they'd thrown it out.

Booked on the day for 8 adults. Sat in the bar area as we had 2 dogs with us. Food was excellent. Everyone very friendly. Chef - who also took our order and served the food - was lovely and catered for our one pudding/2 spoon requests with extras! Good value for money, plenty of choice so would definitely recommend a visit.

Nice seating outside for the views, comfy inside our Great Dane was welcomed, lovely food served with a smile, very happy to return
