Moored up at Hanbury Wharf whilst on a mid week break on a canal boat from Worcester Marina. Our two boats for two families of four arrived here having spent the day cruising from Worcester and completing a dozen or so locks in about 6-7 hours. We moored up and headed to the Eagle & Sun for well earned drinks. Nowhere to really sit and have a drink as all the tables were laid up for dinner, however, we found a spot overlooking the canal and enjoyed the view recounting the days hard-work.

Chose the Eagle & Sun as it was reasonably close to a National trust property we were visiting and quite attracted by the carvery. Latter was excellent with tender joints to choose from (beef, pork, turkey, ham) and fresh cooked vegetable selection. meta helpings were generous without being over the top. The carvery cost £9.95 but there is also a "pensioners" smaller plate plus pudding option at £8.95. Frankly there was not much difference between the full and smaller plates. There is also a full menu of non-carvery meals but most people seemed to have opted for the carvery and seemed like regular visitors. Clearly a popular place (rural location, mid-week yet pretty full)

Carvery very good with a selection of quality meats and vegetables. However a little pricey at £9.95 compared to other venues within the area. There are also a wide range of interesting deserts on offer at a set price of £3.95. We found the place to have nice surroundings with a pleasant vista of the nearby canal wharf in the conservatory extension. Would recommend and will be returning.

The carvery was booked for a family lunch on Easter Sunday. As I am vegan, I messaged the restaurant in advance to ask whether the vegetables are prepared using dairy/honey. Julie was extremely helpful and checked everything out with the chef. On the day, she went out of her way to make sure everything I had was suitable for vegans - in the end I had a massive plate of veggies, including roasties and parsnips, smothered in rich gravy.
All the staff were friendly, welcoming and efficient. Thank you for a lovely afternoon

Decided at short notice too go and have our tea.
We arrived asked if they could fit us in, they were very friendly telling us we could it any where.
The carvery was well worth the £9-95 a head we paid. The food was hot, the normal 3 choices of meat, and plenty of veg too choose from.
