“Best base to explore the highlands and whisky trail”
Reviewed 20 August 2015 for a stay in August 2015

We stayed at Lochan Lodge with two families (kids aged 9 - 11) for a week in August 2015. The lodge is perfect for two families as there are two "wings", one wing with two bedrooms and a shared bathroom and the other wing with two en-suite bedrooms. The location at a small loch on the farm is stunning, Grantown-on-Spey (supermakret, shops etc) is a 10 min drive away.
Bill and Steph and their son Alex made us very welcome, they showed us around, provided some homemade bread, jam and other goodies to get us started. They know the area very well and are happy to share their knowledge (e.g. about whisky;-) with their guests.
The lodge was very clean, comfortable and well equipped (kitchen, tv, washing machine, dryer etc...). The surrounding farmland is a great place for long walks with amazing bird and wildlife.
Lochan Lodge is the perfect base for visits to the Scottish highlands and whisky distilleries amongst other things.

“When you've tried the rest, go stay with the best”
Reviewed 18 August 2015 for a stay in August 2015

Simply put, Lochan Lodge is a home way from home, with all the amenities and comforts anyone would need on a vacation. Geographically very well situated to explore the region, coupled with complete freedom to hike and enjoy this working cattle farm, we could not have chosen a better place to visit the highlands with kids and friends. The lodge itself is very well maintained, with crisp linens, well equipped kitchen, wi-fi, TV etc. A "welcome" food hamper was an unexpected and nice touch on arrival. For just about any traveller who enjoys the outdoors, or who simply wants to put their feet up, there is a little piece of paradise to be found at Lochan…!

Thanks Bill and Steph - you are very gracious hosts with a truly top-notch setup!

“The only place to stay in the Highlands”
Reviewed 17 June 2015 for a stay in June 2015

A brilliant place to stay. The lodge was really comfortable and well equipped. Steph had prepared a starter hamper which we found very useful.

Bill even delayed moving the Highland Coos with calves into a field further from the lodge so that we could see them close up as he knew how much we were looking forward to seeing them.

The views from the lodge were stunning. There was an abundance of wildlife just in front of you. An Osprey liked to fish in the Lochan and we saw a deer close to the woods.

If you love Highland Coos, birds and wildlife then this is the place for you.

Thank you Steph and Bill for being excellent hosts. We had a very enjoyable week and will definitely be back.

Just back from new year break at Lochan Lodge it was fabulous far exceeded our expectations. Pictures on website doesn't do it justice. House was clean warm and very comfortable with everything you needed including lovely starter hamper from Bill & Steph.
The views are stunning and waking up to highland cows and pheasants outside was lovely. Very peaceful and relaxing. Bill and Steph are very attentive and we will definitely be back.

“Best place to stay in the Highlands!!”

I can not rate Lochan Lodge high enough, the Lodge exceeded all our expectations. Steph and Bill ensured we had a travel cot, play gym and lovely rocking chair, to accommodate our 3 month baby. Our six year old loved running around the grounds with Alex and our 13 year old was in his element having a games room to retire too!
The Lodge was well equipt which made it feel home from home and special touches made it a wonderful place to stay.
Big enough for all of us to enjoy without living on top of one another, it really is recommended for extended family or friends to stay.
The view was beautiful and we loved going for walks, passing by the highland coo and catching sight of local wildlife such as rabbits, pheasants, badgers and a great selection of birds.
Steph was brilliant in helping us with knowledge of what to do and where to go, due to her 7 years experience as a tour guide. I can honestly say I intend to return in the next couple of years again.
