“A nice relaxing holiday”
Reviewed 29 April 2012

The park is clean and tidy, with lots of facilities for families, although we personally didn't use many of them. The staff are all friendly and helpful. The park itself is in a nice quiet setting, a little way out of Great Yarmouth, although there is a land train running from the site into the town. It was well patrolled with security vans moving around the site regularly. There is a sandy beach only a 5 minute walk away. The caravan was clean and tidy and had all you would expect from a rental caravan and the site shop was well stocked.

The caravan and park were very clean and tidy and staff in the main entertainment area and Mash and Barrell were exceptionally friendly and helpful at all times. Only an unmarked hump/rise in the main car park which one of my daughters tripped on and dirty toilets in the main entertainment building were negatives but that could not spoil the overall picture. Whoever manages staff morale and communication deserves a big pat on the back.

The Haven site itself is well-reviewed here so I won't go into that, but there are very few reviews of the new Summer House Caravans installed for the first time this year. There are apparently only three on-site, all in Seaview section. We had Seaview 17, and it didn't disappoint. Lovely fresh decor with a seaside theme, a four-person dining table that doesn't require you to use the sofa as seating, next to full height french windows. The view through these windows was just the next caravan, but it was still a nice feature! Modern kitchen, fresh white linen on beds (usual tiny single beds in twin, of course) and ample double room. Lots of hanging space, and nice cheerful yet tasteful soft furnishings. Huge shower, with oddly-tiny toilet room seperate. If you're over 6 foot 2 and/or more than about 15 stone you might have problems closing the toilet door! Flat-screen TV mounted high on wall is nice, though a bit small - what they don't mention in the blurb is that there is an integral DVD drive in the telly so you can play DVDs to keep the kids quiet. Unlike a normal caravan the lounge part has a big clear area in the middle, ideal for children to spread their toys out.

But while all this is nice, the real point to this type of caravan is the heating - bedrooms and bathroom and toilet, on demand. We've had to sleep rolled in dressing gowns and rugs in normal caravans before, and still been shivering. In the Summer House, despite it being early April and cold out, we didn't put the gas fire on once. Toasty warm at all times for no extra charge - it makes the extra cost worth it on its own.

Really nice caravan park check in was fast and a very helpful lady called Lindsay even changed our caravan for us so we didn't have so far to walk as we has no car and it was raining.

Make sure you take a toilet roll with you as there to tight to provide you with even one!

Train that runs from the front is a great idea as its about 2 miles to the pier but very expensive At £1:50 an adult an a£1 a child family of 4 cheaper to get a taxi only £5 otherwise great
