Was given a voucher for afternoon tea at Xmas so went today with my husband. On arrival it looks like a nice enough restaurant, however afternoon tea is definately not one of their strong points. I had booked for afternoon tea so we didn't need to order when we first arrived. The tiered cake stand arrived about 15 minutes after we sat down and I was woefully disappointed by what was presented. Bottom tier was the usual 4 sandwiches each, mostly chicken based with a smoked salmon one. The middle tier was home to 4 of the smallest scones I've ever encountered and you'd be forgiven for mistaking them for biscuits the crusts were so thick. You did get plenty of cream and jam for them though which was a plus point. The top tier was the most disappointing overall - there were 4 tiny morsels of cake that we were expecyed to share between us, not even one of each morsel each! I asked the waitress, who was very pleasant it has to be said, that I've never had an afternoon tea where diners haven't had one of the top tiet cakes each but she sid that was how they did it? She did later come back with 4 more little morsels for us. Overall I can honestly say this is the most disappointing afternoon tea I've ever had. The main menu outside the place looks lovely, and would be somewhere we would probably choose based on that. However afternoon tea is most definately not their forte, and based on the price they would charge for what we had today, it certainly doesn't represent value for money at all.
