“Welcoming, cosy, convenient.”
Reviewed 19 November 2011

The hotel is an interesting building which has retained many original features and been furnished accordingly with lots of fascinating items of historic and artistic interest on display so as to be enjoyed by the guests. The owners Derek and Lez were really welcoming, hospitable and extremely helpful. Would recommend this hotel for its warm, friendly, cosy and convenient setting. Our little dog was welcomed and he enjoyed visiting the park across the road! Car parking was convenient too and its only a short stroll away from Loughborough centre. Thank you!!

Room Tip: Rooms at the back of the building will probably be quieter as they are away from the main road which...

We were looking for somewhere close to town centre and grand central railway where we were having a steam train experience, this was 10 min walk from both. Very helpful on phone, and accomodating when we asked if we could check in early. Although the owners were away for the weekend, they had arranged cover for our stay, and advised of a hiding place for a key so we could let ourselves in. Situated on main road, and parking available in a car park behind temporary wire security fencing next door, had to make a quick phone call to owner to check this was okay as worried might get clamped. Sign on door saying " take off work shoes before entering" a little off putting, gave impression that it was for contractors rather than general B & B use. Warm welcome from owners elderly dogs, before finding our room. House is a little old , dated and tired in some places but immaculatley clean . Excentric mix of items around rooms, large array of intersting showbiz items from the theatrical owners to a resemblence of a bric a brac shop. Average sized room , again very clean and tidy although bed covers with a bit of a 70's print a bit dated and only one cup with drink making facilities. Shared bathroom facilities, which I don't think was made clear on website or by owners, not really a problem as we were only ones staying there, but might have been nice to be prepared. Again stuck in a 70's time warp with avocado colour sinks, but again very clean and a range of toiletries available. Can recomenend the Italian restaurant La Travortia just a 5 min walk up the room, wonderful and great service. Also visited the Art Deco cinema in main town. Even though house on main road hardly any road noise, and have to say one of the most comfortable beds that I have slept in. Went down for breakfast and finally saw someone else in the house! The owners brother & sister in law looked after us for the morning, very friendly and chatty . Choice of cereals, but only a small amount of orange juice offered, breakfast a little basic but well coooked. Nice to be able to pay by credit card at a small b & b, and the owners were kind enough to let us leave our car in the car park whilst we attended our experience. This stay was only £45 for the night including breakfast, so can't complain about value .

Room Tip: We were in room 103 which was at back of B & B so avoided any room noise, that might be at teh f...
