My husband, mother-in-law and I had dinner at Glewstone Court on Wednesday evening, and I found it simply superb. Both my husband and mother-in-law had dined there on many previous occasions, but this was my first time and I absolutely fell in love with it.

The staff and host were incredibly warm and welcoming, and the food was gorgeous - a wonderful treat! It's not cheap, but a fabulous place to go for a celebration.

We were meeting our friends from Abergavenny for midway and suggested we have lunch at Glewstone Court nr Ross-on-Wye.We found the hotel a nice homely and relaxing place with great log fires.having booked the lunch three days previous it was nice to have the table to be found in the bay window of the bar/lounge overlooking the view.We decided to have the 3 course lunch at £17.50...(2xFresh mussels,2xsweet potato soup...2xLambs liver,2xPlaice...4xEaton mess) each. All were of good value and enjoyable.Drinks of wine were £4.00 med and £5.50 lrg as usual restaurant prices. The only niggling bit was the price of coffee at £2.75 which we thought for the quality was a little overpriced other than that we would recommend people to visit

We stayed here overnight to celebrate my husband's birthday and couldn't have chosen a better hotel. We loved the log fire, the oh so comfortable seating and one of the resident dogs lolling at our feet.
We enjoyed an excellent evening meal served in the elegant dining room. My husband was presented with a birthday card, much appreciated, and his dessert arrived decorated with a candle! Our breakfast was another great meal with lots of fresh fruit followed by plenty of cooked choices.
Our room, the Victoria was enormous. Even the (very comfortable) seven foot wide bed was dwarfed. Everything was spotlessly clean.
We liked the thoughtful touches, home made biscuits in our room, fresh milk always available, lavender sprigs in beautiful hand made paper bags. All members of staff were friendly and helpful, nothing too much trouble for them.
This is a hotel we're more than happy to recommend.

Nicely tucked away in some beautiful countryside Glewstone Court was a great find. From the moment we entered we were treated with great courtesy before being shown all the main rooms then up to our bedroom. It was obvious from the start that this hotel is run by the proprietors and their family, all of whom are relaxed, very pleasant and very professional after their years of experience at this lovely late Georgian/mid-Victorian gem of a property. We would go out each day and return tired. A cup of tea in our comfortable bedroom was the reviver followed by a relaxing bath where the water is always piping hot. Then to dress for dinner and down to the bar for a pre-dinner drink and browse through the mouth watering menu. Choice made and and one is soon called through for the meal. It's a beautiful stately dining room furnished with antiques - as indeed is every public room at Glewstone. The menu has great choices - how about a Herefordshire beef fillet steak? Or there's the sea bass etc. The breakfasts are very generous and varied with a lovely selection of out-of-season fresh fruit to start, not to mention something called 'the works' for the cooked option with just about everything presented. No good coming here if you are slimming - the temptation is the worst part - but you don't have to succumb. Bill will serve just what you desire. We certainly intend to return before too long. But my final word is that relaxation was achieved.

Room Tip: Pay according to the amount of time you wish to spend in your room.

Stayed here mid-September 2011. Totally relaxing four days stay. Great food, lovely staff, log fire in evening. The dogs added to our stay.

Really excellent individual touches like a fridge containing fresh milk which was available at all times for tea or coffee, plus bottled water, plus daily home made biscuits in room.

Couldn't recommend too highly

Pam & Keith.
