We usually eat once a week at our favourite balti house up in Yorkshire and wanted something similar whilst visiting family in Tavistock. Plumped for Thariks simply because it included Bangladeshi in its title but found excellent food and good service. We had three different meals - one very hot; one medium; and one very mild - all nicely cooked, well presented and absolutely delicious. It certainly compared well to our local restaurant and we will visit again next time we are down this way.

Went here for a meal in the evening as we were staying nearby. Ordered chicken tikka, looked very bright when it arrived, one taste of the sauce was enough to make me recoil from the sweetness. Asked the waiter if I could have something else as I could not eat the tikka. Another curry hastily returned to table, not much better than the tikka, so decided to just eat the rice. The chef raced out from the kitchen and proceeded to shout at us for complaining about his food and had to be asked to calm down. We hastily finished what was left of the meal and paid the bill. Needless to say we will not be returning anytime soon.

Thank you for your many reviews on your experience. How can I forget about a customer like you?

Firstly you did NOT I repeat did not Order a Chicken Tikka, you ordered a Chicken Tikka Massala. A man of your experience in fine Indian cuisine should surely know the difference but hey lets carry on. The Massala you ordered was cooked with natural and fresh ingredients and a light food colouring not like most places were the colour is luminous red. We have about 15 Massalas ordered a day from the business with not one complaint, however I understand you cant please everyone.

I recall we happily changed the dish to a Chicken Tikka Balti which was not an issue at all as the customer satisfactory experience is what we want to provide and therefore the Chef was told about the dish which he had changed it immediately and swiftly.
However after you had the Balti which is not a sweet dish, you stated it was sweet and said that our chef can't cook (Bare in mind our chef has 30 years of experience).

We take our feedback on board so the chef was told exactly what was said. The Chef wanted to discuss what you found sweet exactly. I assure you our Chef would not come out shouting at you with a full restaurant. That would not be very professional and I'm sorry you felt that way.

While visiting a friend near Tavistock , we decided to eat out in the evening, Tavistock seems short of reasonably priced restaurants which open after 6pm, so settled for an Indian meal. The venue was quite busy, so thought that this a was a good sign. As soon as we sat down we felt rushed, no Popadoms were offered, just a waiter asking for our main meal order. The food was disappointing, not very hot in temperature and quite bland. The service was poor, although rushed when we went in, it was difficult to obtain the bill. Will definitely not return.

Thank you for your feedback.

Firstly I would like to apologies for your bad experience. We have recently hired new staff due to how busy we have recently been. When customers sit down we always take the drinks and Poppadoms first then we take the main order and did not intend to make you feel rushed.

The food is cooked with fresh ingredients with natural spices. If you would have told the staff you were not happy with your meal we could of rectified the problem because customer satisfactory is our number one priority.

Im sorry to hear you do not want to come back however if you come back we will ensure you have a good time and want to come back again and again.

When you do return please mention your name and will ensure you get VIP treatment.

Had a booking, were left standing at the door for ages then finally showed to a table, then ignored again had to summon a waiter when we could find one for drinks, eventually placed our order, staff generally miserable, food arrived my chicken had four bits of chicken in it with a sauce I make better at home, so food very average, service rubbish. won't be back.

Thank you for your review "Not so Happysnapper50"

We do have a booking system put in place to to ensure we can provide seating for all pre booked customers. In this case it seems like there may have been some sort of miscommunication and I would like to apologies. We also have seating up stairs which we will use if we have waiting customers.

This last year we have made major upgrades to the restaurant due to how busy it has been (This includes new staff) I assure you are staff do not ignore customers but try and accommodate as best as possible.

Sometimes when its busy there is a lot of pressure on the staff, we are all human at the end of the day and constant smile is hard to keep when negative vibes are felt.

All our dishes will have at least 6/7 bits of chicken depending on the size. It's hard to believe that you only received 4 bits. If you told us on the day we could have rectified this as soon as possible. If I went to a restaurant and received 4 bits of chicken I would have questioned this with the staff straight away.

I would love if you could bring your homemade sauce in so our chef of 30 years of authentic Bangladeshi & Indian cuisine can take some tips?
