“Fabulous stay during Hay Festival......”
Reviewed 9 June 2013 for a stay in May 2013

Had a thoroughly enjoyable stay, at this beautiful riverside property, during Hay Festival.
An extremely well presented, appointed and furnished property - everything that you could think of or need, is provided.
Very spacious rooms, with very high quality fixtures.
A great location, very close to the centre of town, but in a quiet courtyard away from the road - so very peaceful.
Has a lovely outdoor area / terrace, with an impressive river view - perfect!
We will be back next year!

“Always relaxing, pleasurable surroundings.”
Reviewed 11 May 2013 for a stay in April 2013

Our fourth trip to Hay Riverside Retreats and yet again it's the perfect place to stay and unwind.
My husband, two friends and their three year old find the house spacious enough, so we don't feel cramped or 'on top' of one another.
The house is clean (if you stay two weeks, the cleaner visits to give you new towels & change the bed linen which is a nice touch) and decorated in a manner that makes me think of boutique hotels.
Excellent sized kitchen with a 'welcome pack' of cake, wine, bread, butter, tea & coffee. Very thoughtful.
Great location, just a few minutes walk to cafes, bookshops, deli's, shops etc and a mile away from the Co-op for your big holiday food shop.

“Heavenly stay in Hay!”
Reviewed 28 March 2013 for a stay in March 2013

Not being famous for heading north in winter, I was surprised to find myself driving up to Hay-on-Wye for a 4 days break in the middle of the coldest March since dinosaurs roamed. The closer I got to Hay, the whiter the hillsides and surrounding country became, and the more horizontal the blizzard.
The reason I considered this Spring break in these icy conditions was the accommodations into which the party of 10 of us were booked: Hay Retreats, Riverside Town Houses, situated within convenient walking distance from all the pubs and restaurants, in the middle of Hay-on-Wye. They are right on the banks of the river Wye, with beautiful views from the rear windows, and are simply and very stylishly fitted out. The furniture is plentiful and very comfortable and the kitchens are equipped almost as well as my own. There are bags of glasses, mugs, plates and cutlery so you don’t necessarily have to run the dishwasher after every meal.
Best of all for me were the beds and the bedding, both of which were amongst the best I have slept in, and the heating system which ensured that, regardless of the weather conditions outside, we were all as warm as toast indoors.
The reason I risked these arctic conditions? Well, I have stayed in Steve and Sue’s beautiful lodges at their eco resort in Castara, Tobago, so I knew that the attention to detail and the standard of the accommodation would be first class.
I was right and I highly recommend a visit to either of their lovely properties, regardless of the weather.

And hay on wye is the perfect mix of friendly and cosy but with everything you need in one place without needing to get in the car. Oh and the food ... Great butchers and delis and really good tapas.

We stayed with our two whirlwind young children and this super modern house worked brilliantly for us all.

“Perfect Christmas break”
Reviewed 7 January 2013 for a stay in December 2012

We booked all the 3 houses to accommodate the entire family for Christmas. The location is excellent, only a few minutes’ walk from the village, with the houses at a very quiet and peaceful location. Very well equipped houses, spacious rooms, comfortable beds and great shower. Super clean house and lovely welcoming touch of ‘starter pack’ of cake, milk, butter and jam!
Highly recommended and hope to be back soon.
