“Comfortable, elegant, welcoming hosts in a great central location”
Reviewed 11 January 2015 for a stay in October 2014

Traveling in a large group requires special housing. The SIX en-suite bedrooms were well furnished, the beds comfortable and the shower pressure was outstanding. The hosts live in a separate wing of the manor so were easily reachable. As the cold air was reaching county Tipperary in October, Stella graciously had a fire in the dining room fireplace waiting for us on those chilly evenings. The kitchen had all the equipment we required (Eamonn is a professional chef) and plenty of dishes, glassware, refrigerator space. Microwave and dishwasher are there, too. And free laundry facilities.
The location is great - located in the country about a 10 minute drive to Tipperary for the large grocery stores but a smaller, convenience type store can be found 5 minutes away. We were about two hours from Dublin, one from Kilkenny, 20 minutes from the Rock of Cashel, a little over an hour each from both Cork and Waterford.
Our hosts offered touring advice for both long trips and local drives in the nearby mountains.
Besides our upstairs bedrooms, downstairs there are several living spaces so we had plenty of room. One of the best assets is a dining room table that could seat all of our group (there are more tables in the dining room, should you have yet a larger party) for our frequent family style dinners while we heard the various events of the day.
When not hosting groups such as ours, I believe that they offer the manor for events such as weddings.
I would return to this lovely home in the beautiful countryside.

Liked best: location and furnishings
Liked least: driving in Ireland (not the hosts' fault though!) Nerve wracking narrow country lanes. Fortunately the property wasn't too far from wider roads.

“Fantastic Weekend Away with Friends”
Reviewed 9 January 2015 for a stay in November 2014

We had a fantastic weekend at Rathellen House last November. This spacious beautiful house suited us perfectly as there were 8 adults and 5 children in our party. Stella the owner and her family were very welcoming and accommodating to all of the house guests including the 5 children who were aged four and under!

This house boasts a professional kitchen to die for and was a dream to use. The dining room was very elegant and we enjoyed our meals on a beautiful antique table. The living room was very spacious and everyone could sit comfortably together and relax in front of an open fire. The bedrooms were very comfortable and they each had their own bathroom.

I would highly recommend Rathellen house as great place to escape the hustle and bustle of daily life and catch up with friends and family in luxurious surroundings!

“Wonderful space for relaxing and entertaining family and friends”
Reviewed 4 January 2015 for a stay in December 2014

As we pulled into the driveway of Rathellan House for our New Years Eve stay we were immediately impressed by the beautiful Georgian style house. We were met on arrival by the lovely owner of the house, Stella, who ran us through every aspect of the house before our group arrived. The house was beautifully decorated for Christmas and the central heating and underfloor heating ensured that the house was warm and cosy for the duration of our stay. The house was absolutely spotless on our arrival and all the additional touches were of 5* hotel quality.

Rathellan house is a delightful mix of the old and the new. Each of the six double bedrooms are all tastefully decorated, in keeping with the Georgian Style of the house. Each of the rooms is furnished with a large ornate bed and decorative furniture. Every member of our group commented on the comfort of the luxurious mattresses and Egyptian cotton bedsheets. Each double bedroom also has a sleek, contemporary ensuite bathroom. Our group consisted of a family of five, two couples and two individuals. We had ample space in terms of bedrooms and the living space.

The highlight for me had to be the fully equipped industrial kitchen containing every conceivable utensil, item of crockery and baking material imaginable. It meant that it was a pleasure to cook for such a large group. The dining room, with open fire, has space to seat up to twenty people and made every meal feel special.

I am already considering a return trip to Rathellan House and I would highly recommend it for family get-togethers or celebrations.

“Beautiful home, beautiful hosts, beautiful country”
Reviewed 28 September 2014 for a stay in June 2014

We stayed a week in June with a group of friends and had a wonderful time at Rathellen. My husband and I celebrated our wedding anniversary while there and Stella helped me to arrange a special surprise evening for my husband. She and Eamonn served an amazing meal for the group and followed that up with entertainment by Na Broic, or The Badgers. This talented group of 4 young men played wonderful Irish music for us in the drawing room for a couple of hours. It was a spectacular evening and one that I will never forget.

But back to the house... the rooms are appointed beautifully, it is quite comfortable for a large group, everything you need is here and the location was perfect for a base to tour south and central Ireland. I highly recommend a stay here!

“All Around the Best”
Reviewed 17 August 2014 for a stay in August 2014

There is no need for any hesitation whatsoever to have Rathellen House as your next vacation rental in Ireland. First, the house is absolutely wonderful. New construction with all of the luxuries (we never ran out of hot water with 18 of us taking showers every morning) with all of the beauty of well appointed, beautifully decorated with the utmost sense of care. We have stayed at many VRBO type properties, Stella and Eammon are at the top of the heap. Delightful folks who are now friends. EVERY detail attended to. Our family was at Rathellen for a special birthday celebration. Stella was always available to coordinate every detail. Amazing customer dedication. The Birthday dinner was glorious and delicious. A formal beautiful table setting that was beyond 5 star restaurant standards. We used Coopers cottage also and it is a delightful retreat. In addition to this fabulous home, Rathellen and Coopers Cottage the location for a family retreat and vacation is wonderful. So many interesting sites to visit within a days trip. They have been named in other reviews. Stella is quick to help you with directions or arrange for a bus to take your group. Bottom line, my family and I will never forget our time at Rathellen. The best. A silly note---we had twin 1 year olds with us, we had to buy a baby monitor to hear if they were crying the sound proofing was so great. We also had many adult cousins who had not seen each other in years staying up late at night talking and laughing and the house was silent. That truly speaks to the quality you will experience at Rathellen. You will be so pleasantly surprised at the beauty and the sense of care the home and Stella and Eammon will give you.
