This was the second time I had stayed at this Hotel. The first time I was on my own and had a room at the front of the hotel overlooking the Castle. This time I was travelling with a friend and we had booked a twin castle view room. On arriving at the hotel we were told that the room we had booked was not available due to repair work and we were offered a king castle view room (not suitable for 2 friends travelling) or a twin garden room. We opted for the latter which was up a garden path to the rear of the property. The room was a good size as was the bathroom. However, as the weather was pretty bad for our stay we got pretty wet several times between our room and the main building. The room was also quite noisy, both from the adjoining room and the upstairs room. Breakfast was excellent. Parking was available at the public carpark across the road - free overnight but 5GBP/day. This Hotel has so much atmosphere that I would certainly stay again, but only in the Castle view rooms in the main hotel building.

Room Tip: Castle view on first floor

Looks ok from the outside but walk in and you enter a beautiful building. The communal areas are really lovely and the decor tasteful. Our family room was through the garden, past the goldfish - always a plus with a small child in tow - and set in a separate little house. The room was a good size and had everything you could need. (Lovely hot shower in the morning). Breakfast which is included offers fresh fruit and cereals and a choice of cooked breakfasts: full English, vegetarian or vegan. My full English was not greasy and the ingredients were good quality. The staff were friendly and very helpful. Extremely clean and tasteful surroundings. Would definitely visit again and have no hesitation in recommending to friends.

Had a lovely one night stay with a lovely clean room with a stunning view of the castle opposite . Lovely atmosphere in the bar area and the staff were very pleasant and attentive! Lovely original features in room such as beams and a mural ! Don't be put off by the 1 star food hygiene rating, the breakfast was absolutely lovely, freshly cooked and a lovely choice of cereals, fresh fruit and croissants! Would definitely recommend and stay here again!

The hotel has been refurbished in the last few years and is looking very nice. Our rooms were well equipped and had excellent beds.
The breakfast was very nice; well-cooked and fresh
We had both a great greeting and helpful staff throughout our 3 days stay.

We so enjoyed our stay at the Castle View Hotel. We had a room overlooking the Castle that we could visit at first entry in the morning & what fantastic views from our room. We had drinks at the bar before sampling the local eateries. The staff at the hotel were pleasant, helpful and friendly. We would certainly stay there again as they made us so welcome.
