A very busy New Forest pub with great walks in very close proximity. There are always plenty of ponies and donkeys to stroke and this time of year quite a few young ones as well!
A seized opportunity, a busy week and a working weekend led to us grabbing a few hours to drive North through the New Forest.
No agendas, just the thought of ending up somewhere on the mini road trip.
Transversing the A31 heading across towards Fordingbridge, you come across Godshill, a cricket match on the Left a pottery to the right and then a roadblock of Jenny's and Jack's, slowing you down as if to not miss the hostalry on your right, the Fighting Cock's
Good amount of tables to eat outside and in, attentive staff, good choices of beers ciders spirits and Pims on special (made while you wait, not on a trendy ready to serve machine) food was tastyand plentiful, sat outside (non smoking tables outside available)
A well run setup, good mix of client's, beautiful day eating and drinking in the sunshine, tick another box!!
We visited this restaurant as a party of 16 including 3 young children. Good quality food, plenty of options, quick service , lovely presentation.
Staff were very friendly and took photos for us , it was wonderful to visit family as we live in Kent , would definitely recommend this restaurant.
Myself and my husband have just had our second meal in a row at The Fighting Cocks whilst away for the weekend. The food is lovely, but the staff are fantastic! So pleasant, nothing is too much trouble; they really know the meaning of hospitality.
Chanced upon this interesting establishment after "Sat,Nav." Diversion.
Chose Sunday roast..(Smaller size) after considering the many other dishes available.Good quality Roast Beef and Turkey
Excellent service and very good food.Multiple choices and all prices appeared more than acceptable.
True "country- style" atmosphere with more than adequate parking and children's amusement area outside,All set ina very good location
Worth a second visit but not sure when
Go and enjoy!
Paid £23 for a steak which was so dry and charcoaled not even the sauce helped it to be less dry. The staff were nice which was a plus but the steak was awful. Take look at the photos to see how black it is, I also asked for medium well done not completely charcoaled.
