Great venue for a big friends and family get together. Pub was brilliant and the hotel really big and quirky. All the rooms were great and en suite. Highly recommend and will be booking again in the future.

There were 13 adults and 2 children for a week at Dragon House. We stayed there from 23rd June until 30th June. The rooms were lovely, each with a shower or bath. The garden was really nice and our little granddaughter fell in love with the Wendy House.
The kitchen was very well equipped with plenty of pots and pans, and a plate warmer.
The lounge was comfortable and the dining room was very spacious.
The house was atmospheric and we never felt on top of each other.
We loved it and would definitely go back. Highly recommended.

Room tip: This is self catering and not a hotel.

This Grade II listed building used to be run as an hotel. The owners had the clever idea of renting it out as holiday accommodation - leaving the commercial kitchen and bar in situ. The owner is very welcoming and lives further up the drive - so he can be called if there are any problems. He cheerfully supplied logs (free of charge) for the fire, and topped up the initial supply.
Our group of 16 set up in the bar every night. For the first time in living memory, we didn't go to a pub. Why would we bother with such a great bar of our own? Let me make it clear - this is not the horrible "bar" that some hotels have - this is an old proper pub type room with a great log fire.
The cooks in the party very much enjoyed playing chef in the professional kitchen.
I had feared that the rooms might be a bit sad - but they were all generously sized and smartly decorated. I suppose that each room could be further improved, but then there is a risk that there would be a loss of character (the whole property is a typical English country home) - and a huge price hike.
This place represents fantastic value for money.
I was worried that there were only a few TripAdvisor reviews - and not all of them were glowing. The guest book at Dragon House tells a different story. There are very frequent entries (the rentals must be good) and the comments are all 5 star.
Wholeheartedly recommended. I do hope the business continues to be successful, because we want to go back.

10 reasonably well appointed rooms, but with one or two niggling problems.
We started out with 15 of us last weekend to celebrate Astrid and Tims 10th wedding anniversary. The kitchen was very well equipped. We've stayed in many houses over the years and found that we were short of serving dishes. Not so here. Plenty of pans, dishes, plates and cutlery. But, only a couple of lids, so we improvised.
The bar was fantastic and once we'd got the hang of the log fire we were no longer kippered every night.
Bedrooms a bit too warm, some with impractical showers. The lounge was warm once the heaters got going, but we were worried that the plugs got hot even when they were only on for short periods.
The kitchen was freezing! The cooker (calor gas) had a mind of its own, so cooking was a bit hit and miss. However, there was plenty of cool storage space, which was great.
We al loved the speedy dishwasher, we got tidied up in no time.
We were able to do our laundry in the well equipped laundry room.
We thought the outside needed better lighting. Also we had a couple of blackouts late at night but managed to resolve them.
Overall we had a fantastic week and thought it was good value for money.

Stayed here for a business offsite, with 7 colleagues - it can sleep a lot more than that but only if you want to share rooms (which we didn't).

For our purposes, it worked pretty well - the dining room makes a good conference room, the bar area and sitting room made for good evening discussion areas, and the morning room/conservatory/not sure what you would call it was good for our evening meals.

Kitchen is well equipped with catering-grade equipment which can take a bit of getting used to (especially the dishwasher!)

Bedrooms are comfortable enough though all have their quirks - e.g. some have other rooms reached through them - good for families I would think. Two of the rooms are in an outbuilding and can only be reached through the garden - not a big deal but there's no internet access in those rooms.

House was generally warm, though a little dark in some rooms (but it was November...). The fire in the bar can get smoky.

You do get a bit of noise from the main road - annoying at first but you get used to it.

Location is nice - Exmoor just down the road, Minehead very convenient for supplies, and the sea just a mile or two away.

Good luck finding the light switch for the conservatory lights...
