Stayed here for 4 nights in June in a twin room with a fabulous sea view of the whole of north beach. The rooms are single glazed and sash windows that have not opened for a number of years hence no way to let any fresh air into the room. The hotel is dog-friendly as is most, if not all, of the businesses on the North beach. Dogs may go onto the beach immediately in front of the hotel but are banned in the swimming area just 200 yards northwards. Breakfast is taken in the once ballroom and is full English self-service, very hot on hot plates! Nothing is too much trouble for the breakfast staff and a special mention for Daniel who made our stay exceptional.
The bar operates a 'Happy Hour' which runs from 12:00 - 18:00 !! Beer is £2.20/pint.
Parking at the hotel is limited and is charged at £6 per day, however, when booked in advance each space is reserved with a trestle on which you name is printed. That is your space for the duration and providing you replace the trestle will remain your spot.
TIP. Ask reception for free a parking disk for the town. Scarborough and Whitby operate a disk parking system which requires a disk clock setting to the time of arrival. Without displaying a disk a parking fine is guaranteed.

Stayed here 9th June for 1 night in room 128 and i can honestly say it was the worst nights sleep ever. The bed was extremely hard and was either new or never been turned. The good points of this hotel were far outweighed by the bad as the minimum you should expect is a decent nights sleep which we did'nt get and unlike Premier Inn you did not get a refund for a bad nights sleep or any sympathy from the reception staff either.
The location for the North Bay and Peasholm Park was very good and the bar snacks were good value and tasty. But we will not be staying at this hotel ever again and i be writing to Britannia to voice my disatisfaction.

Room Tip: Room 128 has a very hard bed if you cannot sleep on that type of bed ask to be moved Snack bar food is good value and tasty

My husband and I received an exceptionally warm welcome on arrival and assisted with our luggage by Len. He turned out to be quite an authority on the famous poet Wilfred Owen who stayed at the hotel with his troops during the Great War. As our daughter studied history and is a fan of W.O. we found the information and the historical display very interesting. The hotel has a lot of the original features which adds to the atmosphere. The buffet meals were plentiful and delicious and the service was great. We couldn't really have asked for more. It is an old hotel full of history and charm and the service could not be better. Thank you all especially Len, we hope to return soon.

I have stayed at many Britannia hotels and although this is a nice building, I would recommend it for a quiet holiday. It is by the north beach and a good walk from the main part of town.
The hotel lift is an obstacle in more ways than one.
Our room was not hovered during the week.
No entertainment at all. You can use The Royal or Grand but both a good walk.
On a good note, had a marvellous view from our room.

Room Tip: The front have sea views
