“Homely and central.”
Reviewed 15 November 2014 for a stay in October 2014

My family and I stayed at colborne for one week, it was our first stay in a holiday let, so we didn't know what to expect. On first impression the house was very clean, it had all the things you would expect in a house and plenty of crockery, pans and utensils.
The bedrooms were of a good size, the bathroom had a nice powerful shower. The location is nice and quiet, and a short stroll to the sea front and also to the local supermarket.
There are lots of positives about the house, there are only a couple of negatives (in my opinion) one being I found the seatee very uncomfortable and really needs replacing, I say this as there are dents in the seat where other guests have sat. The second negative (again it's only my opinion, but I feel it would make it more homely) is that nothing matches (maybe I am being picky) pictures have no theme, patterns don't match on the fabrics, the kitchen is looking a bit tired. If the little things were looked at this would have been rated as excellent. I personally thought the house has so much potential.
I would stay at colborne again, but only if it had a new seatee!!, it is a house that has a warm, homely feel.

“Comfortable and near the beach”
Reviewed 21 September 2014 for a stay in August 2014

The house was very clean and we had a problem with the diswasher and the owner came quickly and resolve the problem.
The house is near the beach and very quite. The only inconvenient is the small terrase.

Management Response

I am sorry you had a problem with the dishwasher, these things happen and are unpredictable but it was fixed the next working day. This house does have a small back yard which is clearly indicated on the web site. Our other house opposite (also on Holiday Lettings) has a larger back courtyard.

“Home-from-home”

Spent a month over Christmas and New Year in what was a true home-from-home. With both the railway station and bus terminus only 10-20 minutes walks; the quayside and High Street only a 5 mins stroll, and both walks to Sand Banks (and all the way to Christchurch if you're up for it) one way, and Upton Park the other, it's a perfect spot to be in. Considering how built up Poole is away from the High Street and harbourside then it's a wee oasis of quiet and hard to believe that everything is so close at hand.

Was sad to leave at the end as you don't feel that you're living in a holiday home as it has that homely feel which makes you settle into the place very quickly. Everything is provided (bar towels) and is of a high standard.

If you want the pefect place to use as a base to discover the rest of Dorset, or just looking to be in the one spot enjoying everything that's near to hand such as the views across to Brownsea Island or watching the local fishing boats going out to sea first thing in the morning then you couldn't find a better spot.
