“A Superb + Weekend”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 20 March 2012

We have just returned from a weekend away at 'The Haven Hotel' and wish we could rate it higher than excellent!! We had a wonderful time and the staff were all superb.

There is plentiful car parking at the front and rear of the Hotel with only a short distance walk to reception. Although there isn't a luggage trolley as such, the porter will be more than happy to assist you with your bags. Check-in was quick and efficient.

We stayed in Room 211 which is a large upgraded executive room with a small ante room which has a single bed and can also fit a cot into it if required. The double bed was very comfortable and the views of the bay and harbour were amazing from the main balcony. The room itself was well appointed and there was plenty of coffee, tea and water available.

The food in the Restaurant, for both breakfat and dinner, was of good qaulity, well presented, plentiful and tasty. The views and ambience from the Hotel's public terraces were oustanding as well as the other facilities provided in the Hotel (swimming pool, tennis courts, etc).

I would thoroughly recommend staying at the Hotel for a leisurely break away. We and our daughter (nearly 2) were all treated excellently by the Hotel staff and, even though we were part of a big party on this occasion, we had previously stayed there as individuals and treated to the same high standard.

Thank you for such a wonderful time.

We stayed for 2 nights at this amazing hotel which is on the beach at Sandbanks and right next to the chain ferry to Swanage.
The hotel has plenty of free parking and check in was quick with the room ready on arrival.
We had booked an upgraded room with a balcony and sea view, but the room we were given was upgraded to an executive room. The rooms (also had a single room) were on the corner of the hotel so we had excellent views in both directions. There was huge kingsize bed which was very comfortable. The room also had a fridge and safe built in.
There is a gym, indoor and outdoor pool. The outdoor pool was heated so able to use even in the rain.
We had a meal at the hotel on the second night and the food was very nice - Drinks are very expensive at the bar so best to take a nice bottle of wine to drink on the balcony.
Breakfast was of a good standard, better on the second day as was cooked to order rather than the buffet provided on the first morning. The views are stunning so well worth the price paid for the room (B&B)
All staff were friendly, polite and efficient and I would recommend this hotel to friends and family.

We visited the Haven for afternoon tea and had a very pleasant experience. Very attentive, pleasant staff, the afternoon tea was excellent value and the portions of food enormous. Very tasty, fresh scones. There is a lovely view from the restaurant, and we will certainly be visiting again.

I booked this one night stay, as a treat thinking that it would give us a little bit of luxury. The area is well known for it's outstanding views & there are many luxury properties built in the vicinity. On arrival we were pleased that we were able to park, although spaces were very small. Reception was very small, but check in was friendly. Our room was on the second floor ( room 203 ) the lift was very dated & claustrophobic.
We were so let down by the room that we nearly walked away, the fact that we had a view of the water with a very small balcony was the only consolation. The room was so old fashioned with very dated furniture. The TV was a joke, built in to a unit & only able to provide one channel. The double bed was so small, the smallest that I have slept in. The room also had a constant smell of cooking from below, which was not very pleasant. We did not eat in the restaurant as the prices were extortionate, we decided to go into Poole for evening meal. We did however return here for a drink in the bar & prices were ridiculously high. I am writing this before even trying breakfast, as the way we feel at the moment, not sure if we want to bother. I think that the local Premier Inn would be better value for money.

I stay here often on business. The rooms can be a little hit & miss - if you have sea view the rooms are generally better (they have a balcony). Some of the decor is a little tired, but on the whole the staff are attentive, caring & friendly, and the food is excellent. I always enjoy my stays here. Keep up the good work, Haven Hotel! The location is great if you want to be in Sandbanks, but if you need to be in Poole it is a little far away (taxi ride from the station costs about £10-15 depending on traffic).

Room Tip: Ask for a sea view with a balcony - the views across to Brownsea are stunning!
