We booked fairly recently for two cottages for six last night. We didn't expect the cottages, the hotel or the gardens to be so immaculate and tastefully furnished. We didn't expect the uniformly excellent standard of food and service either. The spa is a delight too. I toyed with the idea of not submitting a review because I don't want it to be too busy when we return. Just a gem!

Always a joy to find this historic country house and gardens unchanged. The gift of the estate to the National Trust was an inspired move. The main house and cottages remain authentic, whilst the spa offers a modern pool, hot tub, sauna, steam room and fitness room. All the staff were friendly and helpful. We enjoyed delicious full cooked breakfasts, light room-service suppers, a traditional bar and the beautifully preserved panelled lounges. Bliss.

My husband, daughter, and I stayed in the Pineapple Cottage. The cottage was so charming and comfortable. The grounds and mansion are absolutely spectacular. All of the staff we met were extremely friendly and helpful. We had a wonderful time relaxing in the small bar before we were seated at dinner. Our meals were all fabulous. We truly did not want to leave. Felt like a royal.

Lovely place. We had a very relaxed stay, staying in one of the cottages. It is set in some lovely gardens (see photos) and has great little walks nearby. Dog friendly (some of the cottages anyway). Thanks to the staff.

Just got back from Bodysgallen, we stayed in the Gingerbread House and it was, as always, like wrapping a big cosy blanket around you. As a world traveller i get fed up with noisy, sparkling hotels, Bodysgallen is the opposite. Its classy, relaxing, historic and unique. Yes the decoration is chintzy but thats its charm, no it hasnt got large glitzy bathrooms, but thats its charm.
We had ilunch and it was the best i have had in North Wales for a long time, no its not a place to rush in and be done in half an hour, its a place to savor the surroundings and ambiance. I cant praise it enough and cant wait to go back

Room tip: The cottages are very unique
