We had the great pleasure of dining at Michel Seylmager's Hus during the summer of 2017, and our experience at this historic restaurant was nothing short of fantastic. We were greeted by friendly, welcoming, and knowledgeable staff who regaled us with fascinating stories of this building, which is hundreds of years old and was once used for boatbuilding and sailmaking during Pursgrunn's early seafaring days. This heritage building has been lovingly preserved, and is the perfect setting for the delicious, authentic meals prepared by a talented chef using local ingredients. A must for every visitor to Norway's gorgeous Telemark region.

Very nice atmosphere, old house from 1700s.
Food is very nice, but lacks that something special.
Fresh ingredient? Yes, very. Meat was great, fish was good. Soup (forest mushroom soup) was a little bit too salty. Great desert. I wish they had a better selection of beers.
No menu on their webpage.
Two people, 3 dishes each, 1 beer and water came to almost NOK1500,- (US$180)

Filet of cariboo with instant sauce from powder????

Again the quality lacks, not on main raw material but on the complete result. It ruined completely the total impression, and sadly it's not first time. What annoys me is how easy it is to fix this and lift the place from third grade to first at least in Porsgrunn. Cometition is not that though!

I was told that this was one of the oldest houses in town. Driven by a local family they have made it a cosy place for dark winter dining. I ate the steak with Whisky sauce. Tasty og excellent.
