Reading the reviews I was expecting something of a gem but I was a little disappointed. The location is OK-ish since you can get the metro to the city within 15 minutes but if you don't want to go back in to the centre then there isn't much apart from the hotel. The only alternative to the hotel restaurant is a Pizza restaurant within 200 metres so if you want to do something else the choices are limited.

Rooms are comfortable but the styling of the room for me is an acquired test. The room I guess was meant to have some sort of African theme with a leopard spot painted head-board and the TV was a small old style CRT TV in a strange cabinet - again painted in leopard spots. Maybe if you were thinking of going on a safari you would love this!

One tip is to use the hotel car park - 149 NOK per day compared to 240 NOK or 30 NOK per hour for on street parking. Bearing in mind how far you are from the city centre this is too expensive.

Breakfast is normally included in the price and it was OK - Had better but had a lot worse too.

Would I come back? - Hmmmm maybe if the price was right but other than that I would try somewhere else.

Room tip: If you have a car go for the in house Car Parking

Staying four nights in Oslo during out trip, and loved this hotel -- it's not crammed into the city center, quiet, no traffic noise, large room and bathroom in a standard double room on the 7th floor. Our room had a large desk workspace, chair/ottoman, and built-in storage and a spacious bathroom with large shower. It's all decorated in the 'salsa' theme (there are chili pepper sculptures on the wall, and odd black-grained woodwork, lots of reds and bright lime green), which is perhaps a little forced as a motif, but well executed. Large windows have blackout curtains (which is critical in June!) and the AC in the room is a welcome addition.

The double bed is two twins, pushed together, as usual. They tend to separate quite easily, being on wheels, but are comfortable and have good reading lights. The room in general has very good lighting except at the desk itself. I think the clear "ice" framed mirror is supposed to light up for the desk, but it did not work. The desk has a wired LAN port (wireless is also available) and convenient power outlets -- it's quite comfortable to work at. Television and mini-bar are in a tower-like entertainment center at the end of the bed and sound is piped into the bathroom from the television. That was unexpected.

Many reviewers commented on the fact that the hotel is most definitely NOT in the city center, its out in a business-park quite a ways north. However, there is a Metro stop directly outside the hotel which gets you to the main part of Oslo (Stortoget or National Theater stops) in less than fifteen minutes. Buses are also frequent, but take a bit longer. Parking (for a price) is available in a parking ramp attached to the hotel. It's a bit pricey, but the hotel gets a 10% discount. This far out, free parking would be nice, but that's a rare find.

There is a restaurant in the hotel, and a large bar area, but we did not eat in the hotel except for breakfast, which is served in the same restaurant. Good selection, well-stocked, with responsive staff. Front desk staff is friendly, and we had no reasons to require there service after check-in. They were cheerfully handing a large group checking in one afternoon, though, They seem well set up to handle large groups. We booked through VisitOslo and received Oslo City cards as part of the deal, which was also a welcome perk (free public transport).

Being in a business-park area, I expected more restaurants or cafes for dinner options, but they are awfully thin on the ground if you want to walk to dinner. There is a sushi restaurant on the other side of the building, and a small cafe in the central atrium, but otherwise the choices seem to be pizza or a long walk. Add in the fact that we arrived in Oslo in time for the Pinse (pentecost) holiday, and finding anything open is hard. The restaurant does offer room service until quite late.

The large and well-appointed rooms make this a great deal for staying in expensive Oslo. The trade-off of a metro ride to the city vs the cost of a city-center hotel was an easy one to make -- the Radisson Nydalen was comfortable, affordable, and we'd definitely recommend it and stay here again if we return to Oslo.

The hotel had a good location very close to the metro Station Nydalen. The hotel is not located in city center, but the metro run all the time for downtown and in a few minutes you can go to city center. Nice room, breakfast and the staff is very kind.

I stayed here for one night on a business trip. The hotel is outside of central Oslo but is easy to get to on the T-Bane (metro) and takes about 15 minutes from the central station.

It's a modern hotel but very comfortable and, for Oslo, reasonably priced. The staff were all very friendly and helpful especially those on the reception desk. My room was very comfortable and I got a great night's sleep - it's in a very quiet location. The decor in the room was a bit strange - kind of faux African with a weird TV cabinet that took up a lot of space and a giant chilli pepper on the wall? Nevertheless it was very comfortable, clean and well equipped.

Lots of positives and the only negative is the location. Even then it is right next to a metro station. Quiet, clean well maintained, professionally run hotel.
Word of advice when commuting in Oslo: Do not buy bus tickets on the bus itself. Buy at a local 7-11 instead. It will be much much cheaper.
