I was a little bit disappointed by this museum, but I think they are currently expanding and renewing it so for tourists in future years the experience might be very different.
We felt like there wasn’t very much information provided to add history and colour to some very interesting artefacts. It was very much ‘here is a burial boat we found’. It would be very easy for the museum to make more of what they have, and hopefully that is what they will be doing with the refurbishments.

Visited the Viking museum in Oslo. It was great to see these legends up close and I got some great photos and memories as my grand father watched from the side as they dug it up. It’s a heritage that you can spend time at looking at all the exhibits.

It was impressive to see how the Vikings crossed the seas in there ships. There is a lot of information available in the museum. We spent about 1,5 hours there.

The museum can be reached by bus or the museum boat which is a very nice and quick way to travel starting at city hall.

We had very nice weather so the attached terrace is very nice for a drink or snacks.

I really enjoyed the opportunity to look at Viking ships so close up. It made me appreciate the craftmanship of those who built the ships and also the courage of those who set sail for unknown lands. Descriptions and interpretations of the ships and artefacts were very interesting.

A very well managed and informative museum. Must visit for children. Inside experience is helpful in understanding past sailing experiences. Ships are preserved along with some old Viking tombs nearby.
