Just a great example of another Clarion Collection hotel, including the breakfast, which offered a buffer with all kind of food and drinks imaginable, and a light evening meal which was great when visiting such a expensive city as Oslo. The evening meal consisted of a soup of the day, a main course (meat/fish), a buffet to prepare a salad, a dessert, fruit, and coffee or tea. What else can you wish? The room was a bit impersonal and had not enough storage room, but the beds were really comfortable. The reception staff was really friendly and helpful, willing to help you with any doubt and giving directions to the sights. Really well-located: five-ten minutes walking from the train station and two different bus/tram stops almost in front of the hotel. I would stay there again if I travelled to Oslo once more!

We recently spent three nights at Hotel Folketeateret. We chose it because of the reviews here at Trip Advisor. Indeed, it was a great choice.

Once we got our bearings, it was a short and easy walk from the train station. Our room was clean and comfortable with a walk-in shower in the bathroom. I prefer that option as getting in and out of tubs can be tricky. We were never disturbed by noise even though the room faced the street.

The breakfast buffet was generous and well presented. We enjoyed the afternoon coffee and pastries. The evening meal was a convenient and welcome bonus.

We found the staff to be exceptional, especially the young lady who worked at the reception desk in the early hours of the morning. We often stopped to speak with her on our way to breakfast. She solved some problems for us in a gracious, professional manner and made our trip to Oslo memorable. We often saw the manager out an about checking on things. He was accessible and friendly.

Hotel Folketeateret provided everything we wanted in a hotel - convenient location, clean room, excellent breakfast, extraordinary staff.

Folketeateret is a nice hotel near the train station (ten minutes walk), which proved very convenient as we were staying for a short time in Oslo. It is located in a gallery, and it is very quiet. In a few 100 meters you reach the main streets of center Oslo, we did not even use public transportation. We occupied 3 rooms.
Rooms are smallish, no closet. A bit dark due to the furniture colors. Nice bathrooms, new and modern. Good beds.
Breakfast is just terrific, there is everything you could think of, all good food, juices, coffee, cold and warm. Really outstanding.
In the room price we had included a light dinner buffet, which is offered on the 7th floor (beverages not included of course) in a really small room (too small...). The food was really good, and they even had croissants in the afternoon.
For the price we paid, definitely outstanding services.

Room Tip: if you want a bigger room, ask for a superior, the price difference is minimal

Stayed here for one night during a trip through Norway. We'd arrived by boat early in the morning with two large bags in tow, so thought we'd see if we could leave them at the hotel until check in opened.

The hotel is located inside a theatre building along with some restaurants and cafés and is a 5 minute stroll from Oslo central station. It was very quiet too, despite there being building work going on outside.

The guy behind the counter initially had a problem finding our booking (an issue with Expedia) but quickly resolved it and gave us the keys to our room early.

The room was large and well thought out with a very comfortable bed. Breakfast in the morning was quite a spread as many others have said, although we were slightly disappointed by the quality of some of the hot food which was lukewarm at best.

All in all though, a really good stay.

Breakfast: I have never seen such an array of choices, you will never be hungry or not be able to find something you can eat. In addition, there is tea/coffee always available in the lobby, and an upstairs lounge and sun terrace with afternoon snacks and a light evening meal / bread / cold cuts / salads. Bearing in mind how expensive it is to eat out in Oslo, we were very grateful for this option!
Centrally located: we could easily walk with our luggage from the central railway station. Many landmarks are within easy walking distance, and the tram stop outside makes it easy to reach other parts of the city.
The staff are friendly and helpful. The atmosphere is probably better in the winter - low level lighting and candles everywhere are lovely, (an open fire in the lobby too in colder weather) but perhaps not quite right in bright sunshine and 25 degree heat.
The room was practical and stylish - not enormous but with enough room for a few days. Nice to have a fridge so that we could buy our own drinks and keep them cold.
The only slight annoyance was the perpetual piped music which it was impossible to escape anywhere in the hotel - with windows open in the heat we could even hear it in our room!
