“Lovely, a bit far.”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 12 November 2011

The place is lovely. The beds are nice and soft. The bedding's great. The rooms aren't big but they're comfortable and clean. The service is good, the front desk guy (night) and gal (morning) were friendly and helpful. The neighborhood is beautiful. Breakfast is excellent as is the ambiance. The Tram isn't too far away from the hotel which makes it fairly convenient though it's a bit far from central Oslo and all of the main attractions. I'd say overall this wasn't a big issue with the Tram line nearby. I recommend this hotel. (10/20/2011 check in late night- checked out 10/21).

We booked it with the Oslo Pass. It was a family room 2 adults + 2 children at a very good price for being Oslo (ridiculously expensive city). The Oslo pass includes public transport and boats to museums as well as many museums tickes. Very convenient. The hotel it self is good, but breakfast is poor, and waitress quite unhelpful :( . There were not hot milk and we asked for it and it seemed to annoy her...

Our room was small (what European room isn't) but comfortable: we had enough room to spread out and relax. The room had a new flat screen TV, small desk, chair, and closet, plus an incredibly comfortable bed (and very nice reading lights). The staff was very helpful in providing directions and sightseeing ideas. Breakfast was a full spread including eggs, bacon, sausage, cold cuts, cheese, bread, fruit, yogurt, and various pickled things....

The hotel is a bit out of the way - it's about 10-15 minute walk from the center of town, but we preferred that: it was on a nice quiet street and didn't have the bustle of a city. The tram was a 3 minute walk from the hotel, which gave us a nice alternative to walking. There were plenty of nearby restaurants so we didn't feel that the location was an issue at all.

We thought the Saga Hotel was an excellent stay and recommend it!

We stayed for 4 days in this modern and charming hotel. . This was refurbished during 2011 and the rooms are finished to a very high specification- really clean and well decorated- with good showers, high ceilings and lots of light and air. We did not have a double bed- it was twin beds beside each other- but- we didn't aks about this either. My husband found his bed a bit soft for his taste but I was ahppy! The staff are very helpful, WIFI is free. It is further out than some of the 'down town' hotels but is a quiet and well serviced by public transport (11 and 19 Trams)- especially if you have the OSLO PASS. Breakfast is from 7am and it is very good. lots of variety in hot. and cold food, juices, certials, meats, fruit and good frresh breads - they were also very pleasant if people arrived a bit late. Oslo is expensive and therefore I would say this is very good value for money and you are happy to come back at the end of a day's exploring.
Some small points:
1) buy your OSLO PASS ASAP- you get great use of it on the trans and it saves money.
2) the tram stop on the map which suggests it is beside the hotel is no longer there- we got a bit lost the first time we arrived
3) we had a really nice time on the Fjord evening dinner cruise one night- the weather was lovely and the prawns were flowing....
4) the resistance museum is sobering and a must.
We'll be back.

Room Tip: look for a corner room as there are more windows!
