We arrived early to drop off our luggage as agreed to by Gabor. There was construction going on right outside the apartment so the taxi had to drop us off at the corner across the street. That was ok, except the building looked as though it was or should have been going through a major rehab. This was a little unsettling, but even more so was the angry and upset housekeeper we encountered when we opened the door to the apartment. She began yelling at us in German for reasons unbeknownst to us initially, thank goodness my daughter spoke German or we wouldn't have known why she was yelling. Apparently the previous renter left a mess in the bathroom and water all over the floor, and had broken the toilet top. However, we later figured that the mess was partly the fault of the owner as there was no shower curtain or anything to prevent the water from spraying on the floor. Also, the bathroom floor was the cleanest floor in the apartment because the rest of the floors in the apartment were filthy, and she merely swept them and not mopped them, in spite of yelling about the what the other renters had done. There were no clean dry towels for us to use, and no face cloths at all and she didn't wash the duvet covers before putting them back on the bed, when we checked out, as we watched her put them right back on the bed. The kitchen was bare bones at best, there was nothing but a faulty microwave, a generic espresso maker, that looked as though it could've been picked up at the flee market. There were plates, cups, saucers, and eating utensils, a range with a broken knob and a dorm sized refrigerator. Because of the age of the building, the apartment was extremely damp, and cold at times. We called Gabor to let him know of the issues and he sent someone who got the heat going for us, but told us there was nothing wrong with the toilet top, even though we still had to reach into the tank to flush the toilet. The owner needs to improve the amenities in this rental before renting it again.
