Chic and cosy restaurant located in a hill closed to Vienna; we came by car, not sure if public transport available. Place for a romantic dinner!

It's a very pleasant walk (on a nice day), not too strenuous, and makes you appreciate (a) how close to the city centre the countryside is, and (b) how small the city is once you get a view of it from the berg. A light lunch at the terrace cafe (free wifi) while looking out over the city tops it off.
Tired of all those museums? Give Kahlenberg a try!

Take the bus up to Kahlenberg and hike back down. It is a great trip. The view is amazing. You look over all of Vienna and down the Danube river. You cannot get a better view of the city and environs.

There is a nice outdoor restaurant, but we did not linger there. We decided to hike down through the woods and out into the vineyards on our way back to Nussdorf. It is not a strenuous or long hike, though it can get confusing as you get closer to the city. Just keep going downhill, you will eventually get to Nussdorf, Heiligenstadt, or Grinzing. There you can catch the trolleys that take you back to downtown Vienna.

Better yet, plan to end in one of those towns and enjoy a wonderful dinner experience in one of the wine garden restaurants (Heurigen).

The location is too far from the city, yes you can see a lot of bridges (I counted 8), but not the ones from the city center. I wouldn't call it an interesting place to go to.

A subway ride to Heiligenstadt and then a bus up to Kallenberg let you access a wonderful view of this part of Austria and of Vienna. One can then wander back down through the Vienna Woods (made famous by Strauss), which we did on an earlier visit to Vienna, or through the vineyards that supply the wines for the Heurigen in Grinzing and Nussdorf. This time we did the latter, and then stopped for wine and a wonderful lunch at the Mayer am Pfarrerhaus Heurige in Nussdorf before heading back to the inner city for a concert that evening.
