“On the river...”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 24 April 2012

Very nice hotel. On the river and just by the Stadium underground stop which is only a short walk away. Probably 15 minutes from the stephanplatz which is the heart of the historic district.

This is slightly less $ than the Hiltons closer to downtown. It would seem that this hotel is positioned for sporting events given it is near the stadium but it also seems to cater to bus tours as it appears to be about 500 keys and I've seen 4 tour busses that would hold 40+ apiece.

Regardless if you are a jogger this is right on the river and has a nice prominade along the Danube.

Rooms are large but rather sterile, and the hotel is alongside a freight rail line which is active at night. I would try to get a room on the river rather than the landise as that should insulate you from the noise. (I was on an end room, landside).

Only ate at the restaurant for breakfast. Very nice but 23 euros? get it includeed in your rate.

Otherwise immaculate in its cleanlieness, very accommodating staff and a good choice overall given the above.

Room Tip: Get something on the riverside to avoid the freight train rumble at night.

I had one of the best welcomes ever on arriving late and stressed after a delayed flight. I was given a room on the river side of the hotel which had a great view and was very quiet being away from the road and railway.
Room was spacious everything thing worked-WIFI not the fastest but workable. I used the exec lounge for breakfast and it was a very nice choice of breads , pastries, fruit and hot breakfast.
The gym was fine and you work out overlooking the river. There is a very nice walk along the river-urban and river views but a great place for an early morning jog or an evening stroll.

Any quibbles? No not really I would certainly return-the only thing I would mention is that you are a $7 taxi trip from the Conference centre and more like $18 to the city centre. But the hotel more than makes up for being out of town by lower prices and a lovely peaceful atmosphere

Room Tip: I have stayed here twice and both times had a river side room but I can imagine you get a little mor...

We loved staying in this hotel. The room was very clean and comfortable, the Executive Lounge was pleasant and hospitable, and all staff were nice. We would go back.

Understand where the hotel is situated, within Vienna, when you book it. It is about a 7 minute walk to a new, clean, roomy, pleasant metro station. It is a 15 minute ride into Karlsplatz station, in the center of historic Vienna. The trains run often. You can literally pop up on the street in front of the Secession and the Naschmarkt, or take another exit and find yourself moments away from the Staatsoper and Bitzinger Wurstelstand. We felt perfectly safe every time. But if you very much like a hotel in the center of the action, or you need to be able to pop in and out of your hotel at will during a day of touring, this is not your hotel.

The ability to have a family of four in one room represented a big savings to us, and was more than worth the inconvenience of the location. We also enjoyed seeing the Danube out the window.

Vienna is (wisely) set up to encourage you to use mass transit, and make you pay for your privilege if you use automobiles, even taxis. We had the run of the place on trains, buses, and streetcars, 72 hours unlimited use of all for 13.60 Euro per person. But taxis between the hotel and town were rather pricey.

Airport taxis are expensive from any hotel in Vienna, as another poster has mentioned. This is not at all unique to the Hilton Vienna Danube. But there is Schnellbahn service from Wien Mitte station, 25 minutes to the airport, running twice per hour, for just 3.60 Euro per person.

I have stayed in Hilton Vienna Stadtpark four years ago, and this March in Hilton Vienna Danube.
Hilton Vienna Danube seems to be a very good hotel and I liked my stay there. The hotel is a little bit away from the city center but it's ok because the metro station (U2 line) is just abouti 200 m or 250 m away from the hotel.
The hotel has been renovated and rooms are really large and spacious. I had a twin-bed room with nice working table, and a sitting corner. Bathroom had a bathtub and a lavatory with a toilet and you get a complementary shampoo, soap, bodylotion and face soap.
Every room has a proper hair drier, and a safty deposit box, ironing board and an iron.
TV set and a mini-bar, but the Internet is not free.
My room was facing a street, but I couldn't hear the noice because of windows.
On the -1 level there is the restaurant with great breakfast - something for everyone's taste.
If you don't have to stay in teh city center this hotel is a great place to stay.

Our family of 4 recently stayed here for an overnight stay on our way through Vienna to Salzburg. Reception staff were very friendly and check-in was quick. Our room was a good size, plenty of space for 2 queen size beds, a work desk and small sofa. Ample sized bathroom. Room appeared to be recently refurbished so nice and clean.

What let this hotel down for us was the ridiculous WiFi rates,10 Euro for half an hour per piece of equiptment!

We also had to call housekeeping for more bedding as our room was only made up fo 2 people despite our booking being for 4 people (each queen sized bed had only 1 single bed sized quilt). Beds were very hard but we still managed to sleep. Buffet breakfast was included in our room rate and was fine.

If you're heading to Vienna to see the sights this may not be the best located hotel for you, but for a quick overnight stay it worked for us. Unfortunately due to the internet charges we would look at what else was available before staying here again.
