After having experienced a splendid visit to the Hofburg in Central Vienna, the Schoenbrunn Palace was a bit of a letdown. The tour of the palace was too crowded and the rooms weren't as interesting as the Hofburg. The only exception was the absolutely fabulous Great Salon. I wish there was a way to separate the guided tours from individual ones since they got in the way everywhere. The tour guides spoke loudly and disturbed my personal visit. It wasn't much fun to hear everything repeated in French, Italian, Chinese, etc. what I already heard on my personal audio device. Also, the tour groups were so big that it created backups that could hardly be bi-passed. The outside grounds of the palace are beautifully kept and once the remaining renovation work at some buildings is completed, it will be even more beautiful.
