Owner description: The Cultural World Heritage Site of Schönbrunn Palace is Austria's most frequently visited tourist attraction. In the palace the residential and state rooms with their original furnishings and decorations convey an authentic impression of the imperial lifestyle. The park and gardens surrounding the palace make Schönbrunn in a unique synthesis of Baroque art as well as providing a convenient and highly popular recreational area for Vienna's population.

“not as good as the Hofburg”
3 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 6 April 2012

After having experienced a splendid visit to the Hofburg in Central Vienna, the Schoenbrunn Palace was a bit of a letdown. The tour of the palace was too crowded and the rooms weren't as interesting as the Hofburg. The only exception was the absolutely fabulous Great Salon. I wish there was a way to separate the guided tours from individual ones since they got in the way everywhere. The tour guides spoke loudly and disturbed my personal visit. It wasn't much fun to hear everything repeated in French, Italian, Chinese, etc. what I already heard on my personal audio device. Also, the tour groups were so big that it created backups that could hardly be bi-passed. The outside grounds of the palace are beautifully kept and once the remaining renovation work at some buildings is completed, it will be even more beautiful.

“Great place”

The surprise is the great Sunday brunch with a classical strings quartet playing with a magnificent view of the palace.

“One of the most fun places to walk for hours”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 4 April 2012

Walk the grounds and you will be amazed by the size and beauty of the property. The flowers, the buildings and the miles of paths are very beautiful. The zoo is also worth the trip, lots of great animals. Make sure to get an authentic pretzel while you are there.

“Impressive”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 4 April 2012

Worth a visit if you are in Vienna. It is easy to get to by subway. Very well preserved and having an audio tour was a real plus. My wife and I enjoyed Schonbrunn and spent about 3 hours there. The gardens would be very nice in the spring. It was chilly in March to walk around. It would also be helpful to read a little about the history before visiting.
