“Amazing food”
Reviewed 1 May 2012

One of the best meals my husband and I have ever had. The chef and his team are truly amazing. While we waited for our appetizers, we were served a delicious 'amuse-bouche'. The service was also excellent. We dined outside in the garden, which was very romantic. Every table was booked and everyone else seemed to be locals.

They are very proud (and so they should be) to be currently rated #1 on tripadvisor -- for about 6 months now apparently. We highly recommend dining here. It was a short drive from the Salzburg centre and easy to find with our navigation system.

“A must if you visit Salzburg”
Reviewed 23 April 2012

We have chosen this restaurant, because we read the reviews of other travellers on Tripadvisor.
I have to say it was even better then expected!
The service is exceptional, actually never experienced similar in Austria.
The ambiente of the place does reflect nicely that it is a family-run hotel.
The owner lady welcomed us warmly, just like we were one of her regular guests.
We got a nice table, beautifully decorated with fresh flowers, candle light, house made bread and butter with herbs.
The aperitif was special as well, just like the wines we were advised to try.
We went for the Leberknödel Suppe (I have never eaten such wonderful Knödels) and the "Wiener Melange" , assortement of various parts of the beef, cooked in soup.
I do advise to order some garnish - vegetables too.
But the absolute highlight was the dessert...Valrohnaespuma...what a unique and delicious final course! Give it a try, you wont be disappointed.
Definitely suggested, this place is a must when you are in Salzburg.
Getting there is a bit tricky, but with taxi or a good map (not what you get in the hotel) its easy to find.
Oh, and dont forget to reserve a table in advance.

“The Best of Austrian Charm”
Reviewed 11 April 2012

We, too, followed the advice of other Trip Advisor reviewers, and all the raves have it right. We were glad we took a taxi as it might be hard to find for one unfamiliar with the area. The restaurant is cozy and welcoming, the service impeccable, the food was wonderful. My husband had lake char on a bed of risotto, and I had the salmon trout with potatoes and wild asparagus--every dish was delicious and cooked perfectly. We particularly enjoyed our waiter, Katrin, who was friendly and quite professional--each of her recommendations was perfect. All the other diners seemed to be locals, or at least German speakers. We felt like honored guests by the end of the evening.

We thought the tariff was reasonable given the quality of the food and the really nice experience.

“Truly world-class cuisine and service”
Reviewed 12 February 2012

Just a short cab ride from central Salzburg, Schloss Aigen exceeded our expectations in every way. It's not touristy at all, and both the food and the service were phenomenal. We've eaten at our fair share of high end restaurants, including NOMA and many other Michelin and S.Pellegrino listed places, and Schloss Aigen delivered one of the best dining experiences we've ever had. It really is an undercover gem. My only regret is that we ate their on the last night of our stay, otherwise there's no doubt we would have been repeat diners.

“A beautiful restaurant - be sure to visit!”
Reviewed 30 December 2011

If you want to get away from the tourists and experience local produce, then this is a true Austrian dining experience. My Mum and I went to this restaurant following advice from our hotel. It is fairly expensive but worth it for a special treat. The restaurant was full and whilst we were the only tourists in there we were made to feel so welcome and special. The waitress was proficient, attentive and friendly. She went out of her way to explain the local dishes and gave some excellent recommendations - nothing was too much trouble for her! We were not rushed in any way and had the table all evening. The boiled beef was really beautiul - you can choose your cut - and it is kept heated in a small pot if you have room for more! This was by far the best meal of our stay in Salzburg. Highly recommended! Be sure to travel by taxi as it is tucked away and not easy to find. It is approximately a 20 minute drive from the centre of Salzburg.
