Schloss Eggenberg is very peaceful and historic place to wander. We went on a Sunday morning and spent about 2 and a half hours there. It was very easy to get to by tram. The building is very neat if you love architecture and interior decoration from the Baroque or Rococo period. It really is a great example of the two different styles as the ceilings of the main rooms remained Baroque while the walls were updated, which creates a marvelous snapshot in time. We took an English tour and had a great tour guide who explained the interesting history of the palace and the detail that went into creating it to mirror the Gregorian calendar. The Planetory Room was fantastic. Beyond the tour of the 24 staterooms, we enjoyed the art and the coin museums both in the main palace. We didn't have time to see the archeological museum located in the gardens though.
