“Dirty but good value and decent location”

Everything was a bit grimy and outdated. Bedrooms were fine. Bathrooms had very small sinks and the shower in the master drained very slowly so it almost flooded the bathroom. Kitchen was dirty and the sink is off in a little side room (by the washing machine) which was very inconvenient. Loud dog next door. There is no dryer and no drying rack provided but Julie did offer to hang our washing out on the line.

Management Response
11 Sep 2014
We found the guests polite and courteous but a little demanding .

The apartment was cleaned before arrival, and always is for new arrivals.
we strive to keep the interior as natural as possible with wooden floors natural fabrics, and sleep systems that enhance natural energy etc so it may be a matter of taste for each person to say what is outdated or not.

The en suites do have small sinks, as this is just a two bedroom apartment and not a house.and the kitchen sink is separate to the living area which can be convenient as it keeps the washing area separate from the living area.

We would like to thank Julie and Bruce for a very pleasant stay a their cottage.
The house is nice and cosy, has good showers and good beds.
The view on the sheltered sea bay is nice, and it is a very quiet place.

“A nice, quiet and private place, shame about the cleanliness”

We found this to be a nice place to stay overall, although it was not that easy to find from the main road and the directions given were not that helpful. There is a large garden to relax in but we found that the owners dog was often around this area and often barked at us when we ventured outside even to our car never mind the garden, which made our 5 year old daughter nervous as well as ourselves.
The kitchen was not clean and the oven should really have been degreased before we arrived! There were several kitchen utensils which we stayed well clear of...
However it was relatively cheap so you can't expect too much. Wifi was very sporadic.
What really spoilt our stay there was that the owner had double booked us on our final night which meant we had to frantically find a night's accommodation elsewhere, not easy during a bank holiday in Ireland......

“Great little cottage for 2”

I recently visited here with my brother. The property was a little of the beaten track but OK once we worked out exactly where we were. The owners were helpful and had informed us before we arrived that if they were not there when we arrived we should just make our own way in as the key would be in the door. When we arrived the key was there. The house is attached to the owners property.

As for the property itself, there were two bedrooms (one double room and one room with two single beds). There is a living room, come dining room, come kitchen with a separate utility room where you have a washing machine with sink and power point for making tea. Although my brother and I thought the property was fine for our needs, I wonder what 4 people would do there if they had to share the room at the same time while someone was making tea while others want to watch TV.

As for us two, well we had the football or we could always go off to the pub for something to eat. But the TV did have a lack of channels and the stereo was not working (being somewhat outdated). We were lucky because I had my ipod but there were occasional difficulties finding an internet connection. The cooker had gas which was a bonus for us and both bedrooms had separate showers which was a real plus too. The owners were very friendly and were always available if we needed any assistance. The property was warm too and the central heating worked a treat.

As for the venue itself, it was well sighted, overlooking a lake and was a 40 minute walk from the village of Union Hall (or a 10 minute drive, weather depending). In summary, a great little place for two with a great view over a lake. If you have a family with anything more than a young baby then you might find the venue a little bit cramped for your liking.
