“Excellent quality room”
Reviewed 22 April 2012

The room is beautifully fitted out and very spacious by European standards. There are plenty of mirrors in the bathroom - if you stand in the corner you can see properly to style the back of your hair, a rare treat! The shower is large with a handheld shower and wall setting as well as a lovely drench shower at the end. We had fluffy towels, bathrobes and slippers and a coffee maker. We found the bed very comfortable - and being small and light I often find hotel beds hard. Wi-fi was available throughout the room and all you had to do to get it was accept "teams and conditions". No codes, no log in, it was pleasingly easy and free. The safe was a good size, but positioned high in the cupboard, in fact above my head height. Admittedly, I'm not tall (1.56m) but I had to drag the foot stool over to be able to look inside and check I hadn't left anything!

The location of the hotel is good for the old town and the station, both being about 10 minutes walk away.

The minibar was all included in the price, but as others have observed, there is no alcohol it it. I'd rather had alcoholic drinks available and paid. Mind you, I might have had second thoughts when I saw the prices! I appreciated the water anyway. Breakfast seemed very expensive as all we ever want is a light snack, so we didn't bother, and we got a nice coffee and croissant from a cafe in the old town.

We did go up to the bar at the top, but the music was loud enough to drown conversation. I enjoy loud music in it's place - we went to Luxembourg to see a metal band playing at The Rockhal - but it's not what I look for in a classy hotel. Especially not c...py euro-pop. Some people have mentioned noise from the bar - we were on 4th floor and didn't hear a peep.

Room Tip: Go lower for quiet and ask for a view - ours was rather unprepossessing, but on the valley side they...

We booked in here for 1 night whilst travelling through Europe and have to say we were extremely impressed, not just with the Hotel, but with Luxembourg in general.
When we arrived there was some construction work going on so the parking was difficult to find, however, staff were on hand to help and were also extremely efficient at check in.
Our room was brilliant, really cool, modern and trendy. The shower, partly in the bedroom was amazing, one of the best designed rooms we have ever experienced in a hotel, anywhere. Coffee machine was also very good. Having recently returned from Cameron House (a 5 star De Veer Hotel on Loch Lomond in Scotland) the differences between the two are quite incredible, not just from the efficiency of the staff in Luxembourg compared to Scotland, but the cleanliness of the hotel and a full complimentary minibar instead of a small fridge in Cameron House housing only a small carton of milk for the tea and coffee!
The location was also fantastic, only 10 minutes walk to the centre and therefore being away from the hustle and bustle, ideal for a good nights sleep, which wouldn't have been hard anyway given the excellent quality of the bed and bedding.
We booked this Hotel having done much research on Trip Adviser and the reviews are totally justified.
So all in all this is one of the finest Hotels we have stayed at anywhere in Europe and if in Luxembourg again would definitely return.

Room Tip: Ask for a room with a view as the rooms to the front of the Hotel have fanastic views over the valle...

I booked a 'luxury room' at this hotel for a short city break in March. Overall it was a pleasant place to stay and I would recommend it to others.
My room overlooked the Petrusse Valley as promised during the online booking process. It was of a very good size, and featured a coffee machine, a minibar (which was complimentary), a very comfortable bed, and fantastic separate shower and bath tub facilities. The shower deserves extra note as it was one of the better showers I have had in a hotel room. Unfortunately, the complimentary 'minibar' simply consisted of a few cans of Coca-Cola products and bottled water.
I ate breakfast at the hotel as well - one should think carefully before prebooking this. It mainly consisted of cold meats, cheeses, fruits, etc. - so very continental in character. Unfortunately there wasn't much available in terms of a hot breakfast in the buffet. Rather, one needed to order from a menu. I did so, and did not get charged separately (having prebooked breakfast when I booked the room), but I'm unsure if I simply got lucky or if prebooking breakfast gives you free access to the a la carte menu. Definitely something to ask up front.
Next to the restaurant on the eighth floor is the hotel's bar. This seemed to be an extremely popular establishment so the hotel even has its own bit of nightlife. However, beware that on Friday night there was live music which was playing until very late in the evening - perhaps until one or two - so if you have a room on one of the top floors you'll hear this if you're staying in.
The hotel is in a great location for visiting the city centre as well as the 'grund' area (which the hotel overlooks). I found most of the major sites to the walkable from the hotel with the exception of the military cemeteries, as these are of course some distance out of town.
I would recommend this hotel for anyone visiting Luxembourg and would most likely book it again if I were to return.

Room Tip: If booking from the Sofitel website, you have the option to book a room overlooking the Petrusse Val...
