An fully armoured knight standing on the stairs greets you when you open the door on this vertical tardis right in the centre of Valletta. Beautifully refurbished with all modern amenities but retaining all the old features this is a very special place and its views over the grand harbour from the roof terrace are spectacular. The owner is also very helpful. The perfect choice for those with a spirit of adventure who want to chill and explore Valletta and Malta.
Three of us stayed here at the end of August. David was an excellent owner, arranging taxis for us, and showing us around when we first arrived. The welcome pack of food/wine/water was also a lovely touch!
The house was amazing, beautifully renovated, with everything we needed for our stay. Close to all of Valletta's historic sights, and also to bars and restaurant's, our personal favourite's were Beati Paoli and Salvino's. There was also a very reasonable mini market just around the corner called Uptown, full of locals doing their shopping, but it is only open in the mornings!
The highlight of the house for us was the roof terrace, overlooking the Three Cities and the Grand Harbour. We spent most afternoons up there under the umbrella with a few drinks watching the world go by. The spiral steps weren't a problem either, and we are all in our mid 50's!
Excellent in every way, we couldn't have wished for a better place to stay, and have already recommended the house to friends and family!
A really fantastic visit. The owner David R was brilliant, friendly, easy and truly helpful. He put us all in the holiday mood and set us up from the outset to get the best from Valletta. We are very grateful to him for a fantastic holiday.
Within a few minutes walk to the centre of Valletta and its tourist "must sees" like St John's Co-Cathedral, Grand Master's Palace and Upper and Lower Barraka Gardens, not to mention the wonderful cafes and charming restaurants, the house was a wonderful alternative to a hotel. The Maltese house layout gave an authentic
experience and its renovation ensured modern amenities with comfortable beds and high standard bathrooms and kitchen. The quirky spiral staircases towards the top floors are not for children or those with knee issues, but were worth it for the roof terrace and views. David accommodated my early arrival by storing my baggage and welcomed us with basic provisions to start our stay. As a single woman in my sixties travelling with two 'twenty something' girls, we loved our stay and felt safe in the house and in Valletta.
